could not agree with you more (my sweetRonnie) as you may already know here in the U.K. we have this crap show call X Factor & the people on thier are talentless as sh*t , artist like Dio have been so underated over the years in the past , i also feel the same for Graham Bonnet aswell / who is another great vocalist . _________________ PEsneesby |

Yeah, we have the Australian X Factor here as well, hosted by the wonderfully talented Danni Minogue (!! ) and also Australian Idol . Some of the young guys try but are always overwhelmed by a series of screeching young female vocalists. As a female myself I probably shoudn't say this but I think most female voices are highly irritating and when you add to that their ridiculous pouting, writhing and wriggling you have something guaranteed to make me want to smash the TV screen. They seem to be taking over the music industry in droves.
Thank goodness for my large collection of hard rock/metal DVDs.
You're right about Graham Bonnet as well - never quite got the recognition he deserved. |
Your so right, unfortunately the only band with a female vocalist I could stand is Heart. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

Always loved this tune. Was overlooked by radio stations on the Holy diver album. Thought it would make a great single.
I always loved his humming at the end of the song. Beautiful. For all of his vocal talent, I loved his humming too.

@ my sweet ronnie
There ARE a lot of great female vocalists!
Try Doro Pesch (Doro,Warlock).
Annother great voice is Dana Fuchs. She´s more Blues and Rock.
Her performance of "Whole Lotta Love" is real great!

I prefer the version from Rockpalast. _________________ No more night-I´ve seen the light

Reading this thread made me listen to Holy Diver last night. Recently I’ve listened to no other Dio but the Donnington CD’s.
It’s quite odd how I realised just how gentle this album is. Caught in the Middle is a really gentle and beautiful song. I guess being glued to the ‘In Concert’ VHS all these years made me think of the Holy Diver album as being darker/heavier than it perhaps is. If you swap tunes like Caught in the Middle and Invisible for Children of the Sea and Heaven and Hell it does become a more broody experience.
I wish I’d seen Dio in 87 when they toured the UK with Warlock because I loved Doro’s voice too. I could never admit it to my thrash metal school buddies at the time but I loved Triumph and Agony. Thankfully I never felt ashamed to admit to loving Dio. While I was heavily into the all the 80’s thrash/speed bands I always made lots of room for Dio and a bit of room for Warlock and even WASP!
Just remembering my patch covered denim jacket now; covered with lovingly sown on patches of Kreator, Megadeth and so on but with a Dio logo across my shoulders! |
