A new song which legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio nearly completed before his death will be released next year, according to former DIO member Craig Goldy. The guitarist tells U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, "We were working on tracks for a new DIO album just before Ronnie died in May. And we did almost finish one song. Wendy [Dio, Ronnie's widow/manager] has been talking about reissuing [DIO's] 'Magica' album (originally released in 2000) with bonus tracks, including this one." He adds, "The thing is that the lyrics deal with what Ronnie was going through at the time, when he was battling cancer. So now they are very emotional. It's hard to listen without a lump in your throat."
Craig Goldy will be sharing his plans for his new group very soon. |

Is this about "Elektra" that we heard about, or another song?
Looking forward to all that he worked on coming out.

So only one song will be released next year ??
Who plays drum parts ? I guess that Ronnie plays bass and keyboards on current track. But Rudy and Scott will play on it ?
And what about reissuing Magica + bonus tracks ?
There are more tracks which Ronnie and Craig were working on.
Anyone of DIO members can complete or not ?
And vocal track has been completed or not ?
The lyrics....I didn't expect that Ronnie wrote about his own feeling or experiences...Because Magica has a characteristic image and SF story.
It's kind of fear I feel...I want to listen, but it's scary to know what he wrote. _________________ ☆Tell me lies as long as it's not about love☆ |

Unfortunately, I dont think Ronnie expected to lose his battle with Cancer, so I dont think he went into the studio to record everything he could before the end, like Freddie Mercury did. So We probably wont see much more from Ronnie in the form of final works. However, I would venture to say that like most artists, there were songs that didnt make the cut on his albums that may be locked away in the vault somewhere, and we may actually get some new older music at some point. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

I remember when I heard Made In Heaven by Queen for the first time, I cried like a baby
Mainly becoz of the lyrics that Freddie Mercury had wrote, I think its really important for DIO fans from this song to be released.

Don't forget Ronnie James Dio was the master of the metaphor,he always wrote what was in heart, thats why we have a hard time trying to decipher so many of his lyrics. |

it's a pity that only one song will be released, it will be very sad moment and a happy one as the same time, it would be special song for us...
it's a good idea to release it with magica cd, because i've got that stupid version of that cd from nobelprize(lord of the last day is shorter than on normal cd)

or alternative versions of released songs, for example with alternative guitar solos or something, remixes, like these from anniversary edition of deep purple machine head and many more...

Indeed. But that's not always his experiences.
For instance, Stargazer, 16th century greensleeves. These songs were written with his imagination and creativity + historical facts.
And Magica is, I think, that kind of SF works.
I didn't expect that Ronnie wrote about his experience of fighting with cancer....So I feel scare to see it.
For the uncompleted tracks, Craig and Rudy said that Ronnie could finalize one track by playing every instruments and using computer works by himself.
So I imagine that other tracks may be completed by DIO members if Ronnie made up all the lyrics and vocal tracks.
Queen is the band and surviving members could add missing parts and lyrics and complete tracks. (I really love Queen and Freddie)
But DIO is rather different from Queen and I believe that it's difficult for other members to add lyrics and vocal parts.
I truly hope that not only one song, but more other songs can be released. _________________ ☆Tell me lies as long as it's not about love☆ |
