I don't really think it's about the money... Ozzy is retaliating because Iommi and Butler said negative things about his contributions( or lack of) and performance. + I don't think they want to tour with him anymore, given his performance( also compared to Dio). They have made they're preference.. on the 40th anniversary of the original line up... not to reawaken it once more.
I think it's the nail in the coffin for classic Sabbath. It will be interesteng to hear from the other original members. |

How can Ozzy even look at himself in the mirror. What a jerk he has become. I feel his wife Sharon is behind some of this but not all. He wasn't even with Black Sabbath in 1980. As for the name if I am not mistaken I think Tony Iommi has owned the right to the name Black Sabbath since 1985. Now all of a sudden Heaven and Hell are becoming very well known now Ozzy wants to sue . Sounds like someone is jealous to me. After all we the fans didn't tell Ozzy to do his stupid tv shows instead of making music. Ozzy gets what he deserves. As for the article in Decibel it wasn't anything different from what Tony Iommi said in the 2007 DVD Radio City in New York. In the dvd Tony Iommi states almost the same thing about Ozzy's performance how they started out 2 1/2 hours each night it became less and less and went down hill from there. So apparently there was problem for quite some time. What are they suppose to do wait around for Ozzy to get done his Tv show then go and record. In my opinion I always liked Black Sabbath better with Ronnie James Dio. The music with Ronnie in Black Sabbath was so much better. This is one battle I think Ozzy will not win. The only bad thing is that Heaven and Hell is touring I hope this does't distract them with the press asking questions. _________________ If you wish hard enough you might be surprised what awaits you at the end of the rainbow! |

Remember when Roger Waters left Pink Floyd.
He said that the band was “a spent force”. Despite an acrimonious legal tussle with Waters over the use of the band’s name, Gilmour and Mason continued (with Gilmour now the band’s undisputed leader), eventually winning the right to continue performing and recording as Pink Floyd in and out of court settlement.
I don't think Ozzy can win.
Iommi and Butler will win the right to use the name. |
The difference with Pink Floyd and the fact that Gilmours case was Bullshit (even though he won) was that he walked out on the recording of the Final Cut, and Waters was forced to finish the album himself. After it was done Roger Waters, the only original member of Pink Floyd Left in the Band laid it to Rest only to have Gilmour resurface with Mason to try and claim the rights after they quit. Somehow Gilmour won his case and stripped the mastermind of Pink Floyd of the name. Pink Floyd has sucked ever since. Without Waters vision its just boring.
Now what does that mean to this case. Well one could make the analogy that Iommi is the Mastermind who has laid Sabbath to Rest, and Ozzy's name is synonomous with Sabbath to most people, and a Judge may see it that way. They are now battling for a name, not an active band. I wouldnt dismiss this case before seeing how it plays out. Common sense says its Bullshit, but the legal system is a battle between lawyers making their case.
Just for the Record I never remember Sabbath playing a club when they came to Detroit, and even though their popularity had faded, it was Dio in 92, not Ozzy that returned them to arenas. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

..."Pink Floyd has sucked ever since"?...Sorry Al...but that's just Bullshit...the final cut is what sucked...Gilmour still fascinates me to this day... _________________ ...As long as it's NOT about love... |

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. to me it just doesnt have the same flair without Waters. I have seen both acts, and Floyd had all the fancy effects in their show, Waters just played and had some basic effects, but it was way better. Waters also honored the sounds of Pink Floyd by getting someone to sing Gilmours parts that actually sounded like him (not a hard thing to do) but PF refused to do the same, and had three women back up singers harmonizng the Waters parts in their show, taking away from the original sound. Gilmour may be a great guitar player, but I still think his version of PF is Lame! _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Now just wait a fFUCKING MINUTE!!!Final cut sucked?Bobby bro get your head examined ain't been here for a while but to put down the greatest masterpiece since The Wall??WTF been having few personal probs lately but what the hell u think gets a brother through that shit? PINK FLOYD,Heaven and Hell,DIO,Doors lots of booze and the thought of a loaded side arm!!!!Now lets examine this agrument just a little bit differently Final Cut is what really got me into FLOYD who cant but say that after hearing where he says "I disembarked in 45 and no one spoke and no one smiled" or listening to the cat meow in the background of Paranoid eyes(quick shout out to Les Paul as well for that)This is one kick ass album and to just dismiss it staggers my mind!I'm sorry but I am going to defiantly disagree with that comment!!!As to who owns the name u might want to speak with a bro named Barrett who named the band in the first ffucking place without him no floyd either!! |

| smells like Iommi's mistake to me. if Ozzy has rights of BS's trademark, then he has rights. Iommi should took care of legal stuff when Ozzy left the band. |

They settled?
http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=141105
I felt this was a contrived and greedy move. I don't personally know all the details, I am not a lawyer, but this seemed money motivated all the way.
Frankly, I was very annoyed when I heard of the lawsuit. For whatever reason, as a listener who has followed these guys for a long time, I thought that this was litigious in nature.
I hate to imagine Tony had to give up way more than was fair. I always viewed Black Sabbath as Tony's band.
The settlement is not detailed, go figure. ??
I am not trying to be a jerk, but I can't help but imagine someday we'll hear how the Osbournes are flat broke due to outrageous spending, and from that outrageous lifestyle I imagined this lawsuit was born out of desperation(I could be totally wrong though, who knows).
Why would they wait sooooo many years to sue?
I was put off as a fan that these guys didn't call the new album BLACK SABBATH, because that's what it was of course!
It was a Black Sabbath album, for pete's sake! |

It doesn't really say what the conclusion is.

It just says they settled which probably means that Tony had to cough up some money to make this go away.
I am so curious about those details...but not like the gossip accomplishes anything good artistically though. |

Thank you HM! I've missed being here, but life had some unusual turns, as well as losing all my bookmarks. Ronnie's passing was like a punch to the liver. Felt like I lost a brother, so I wanted to find my way back here where we're all brothers and sisters. Sounds corny, but what the hell. That's how I feel.
I'll try to stick around this time. |

Ronnie's passing is still effecting the members in here.
Your timing is bad my friend, I am quitting this place.
You can find me in Lady Rock, you are still a member. |
