Have a listen
...Here: http://www.frontiers.it/album/4716/
Apparently it was started last year before the tragic events unfolded.
Watch the video for 'song for Dio' - got plenty of Dio song titles in there!!!!
Interesting versions.......shows me how bloody strong the songs are. This is a nice album and one which I suspect I will end up purchasing. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

One of the biggest problems with covering a song from Ronnie, is that you are never going to be as good as the original. I like the idea that he is paying tribute here, but to me it just comes off like a cheap tribute act, that I could see at the local bar. I hope he does well with the sales, but Its just not as good as the original. I would have liked t more if he tried to put his own spin on it, rather than just copy the songs.
I know that some people would hate that as well, and its a tough decision when you are covering such a great artist. The Nevermet Tribute will be our own spin, and hopefully we are not Damned for doing so, but when we sat down with the idea, we decided that just covering the material would give no one any reason to listen. Ronnie already does the song as perfect as it can be performed. so why not do the song the way we would do it instead, giving a completely different sound and style to it.
Only time will tell, and like I said, if people dont like it, I will understand. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Horses for courses I guess.
Personally I like the fact that he sings in his own way and the music isnt that dis-similar to the original tracks. I dont think for one second he ever set out trying to emulate Ronnie in any shape or form.
What I find endearing is the fact that this is a guy who has recorded an album as a tribute to his favourite musician and most likely as a carrier for the 'song for Ronnie James Dio' opening track.
I have fronted a covers band in the past and always had a rule that I would never try and sing like the original but the music should be as faithful as possible........
HOWEVER let me say this - NO ONE will ever do a Ronnie James Dio song as well as Ronnie.....all they could ever try and achieve is a good version. Ronnie was unique, the best and I truly doubt there will ever be a singer who can touch him on any level.
I look forward to hearing the new Nevermet tune when its ready. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

I must admit and guess this comes as no surprise to you but I have always liked female vocalists doing covers of Dio songs.

This version has Sandra Schleret on vocals but I do like the studio version from the late Sabine Dünser, its hard to believe its coming up for 4 years now since her death
Studio Version
Was a bonus track on"Griefshire"

I may have came off a little harsh. I definitely like that he is paying tribute, and if he has fans that are not Dio fans, he may turn them on to Ronnie's music. So its a good thing. It just doesnt fit my particular taste, but hey who the F--k am I anyway. If anyone is on the fence about buying it, I would say buy it, and give it a try. You may really like it. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Like this a lot, really like the way the band have done their own arrangement on the song. Prefer the studio version though, stronger vocal. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Jorn Lande played allways Dio-Songs in his set.
Check out Jorn - Live in America Cd/Dvd.
Or maybe his Bootleg with Pagans Mind (Stars!)
He was also one of the singer at the last Heaven&Hell-Concert
Togheter with Glenn Hughes. _________________ No more night-I´ve seen the light

I was ready to vomit on this stuff.
Jorn has done a quite superb job of honoring Ronnie w/these recordings.
Very unique and well produced. I'm not sure I've heard many better Dio covers. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

I have not heard Dio covers done so well. They're done in an original way, paying honor to the originator, and birthing originality with Jorn's special sound.
I still don't like his voice like Dio's, but I'm still quite impressed. Cheers. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

I think he should have kept i JØRN.
Because that is how the name is spelt.
Not Jorn. Jorn is stupid, it's not even a real name.
Anyhow, the album he dedicated to Dio was release WAY too early. _________________ I en svart kiste. Mother North. |

Agree about the name. As for the album/tribute: he began work on it before Ronnie was even diagnosed, so it would have been released when it was regardless. The timing was just an unfortunate coincidence. |
