The Sacred Heart tour made a stop here in Ogden years ago. Opening was Mr. Yngwie Malmsteen and Rising Force. The venue was great (11000 full capacity) and Yngwie's musical style perfectly complimented the tour.
That is one solo I will never forget. The guy is amazing!! He had problems with some of his equipment towards the end of his solo , so he played the whole thing over again ... Amazing!

Trouble supported on the Lock Up The Wolves tour. they weren't that good that night at newcastle city hall (eric wagner did seem very stoned) but i have seen them since when they were great live.

I've seen Dio loads of times but I've just realised that I can't recall most of the support bands!
Standouts for me were Queensryche on the Last In Line tour, and Keel on the Sacred Heart tour. I remember meeting Bryan Jay outside, rescued him as he tried to convince a couple of fans that he wasn't Craig Goldie! |

| My dying bride supported Dio in 96 or 97 in the UK. That's a gig I'd like to have seen! |

I do remember that Narnia toured with them once and that I did not like them
But otherwise, I forgot all the support bands too. _________________ This is your life

I have been to many shows, and it always seemed that the opening act was always mixed wrong.. Probably to make the headliner sound that much better...
This was not the case when I saw Dio. The opening act sounded awesome, once more lending credence to Ronnie's professionalism.
I saw Rough Cutt open for Ronnie on The Sacred Heart Tour at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, and they were awesome live. I know many have toured with Ronnie (if you watch the Sacred Heart live video with Craig, the opener was Twisted Sister), but Rough Cutt turned me into an instant fan, and I have turned many people on to their first album.. _________________ http://ladyrock.informe.com/ |

His Killing the Dragon concert in Boise, ID had the best opening band of those I've been to-Scorpians.
I was amazed as Scorpians were a bigger act through the years, and were always a good group to see live, but when they opened for Dio it showed. The crowd wasn't really all there yet, or with the program. When Dio came out on stage everything shifted to another level, and the whole place came to life.
I felt bad for Deep Purple, as they came on after Dio, and it was almost as if they were playing exit music...3/4 of everyone left.
Being a DP fan as well, I stayed through to the end.
The worst opening band had to be Megadeth in Vegas. I was shouting Dio after their opening song! _________________ ...and the time had come for the one to go to the temple of the king...RIP Ronnie. |

I saw him twice on Sacred Heart tour. I think in Florida it was Accept that opened on their Russian Roulette tour. So glad to see them, but they played so short to make time for Dio.
Trouble is, no matter how good the opening band was, you just can't wait for them to stop so Dio will come out.
On the Heaven and Hell tour, we had Queensryche and Alice Cooper opening. To make it seem shorter, we got there late to miss most of Queenstyche. Then we just had to watch Alice Cooper while we waited for Dio. Usually I would love Alice Cooper in concert, but when it's making you wait for Dio, it's not the same.
