Freddie knew a lot sooner that he wasn't going to make it (given the prognosis for an AIDS diagnosis at the time).

Based on interviews and what-not, I think Ronnie fully expected to beat the cancer, right up until the last week when he got so much sicker.

I suspect that that kind of "preparing for the end" would have felt too pessimistic to him. He wanted to focus on getting better instead.

Well that explains it quite well, I believe. Thanks. I didn't know that much of his disease.

Cool

I would not rule out that Ronnie did some final recordings before he passed - not as late as May of course but earlier this year.

Given the fact that he had 7-8 songs ready in October 2009 and that he worked on new music with Craig in 2010 I am pretty sure that some good demos exist.

I can remember Jeff Pilson telling Eddie Trunk on the Dio tribute show that Eddie did just days after Ronnie died, that Ronnie was indeed in a studio just weeks before his death.

People concluded that it was "Metal will never die" that he recorded there but there is to my knowledge no proof to that.

Instead on one of Wendy´s health updates in March it was said that Ronnie and Rock Feinstein were in a studio to master Rock´s new album "which Ronnie sings a song on".

So I conclude that "Metal will never die" must have been already recordet by that time and Ronnie did something else while he was in a studio in (probably?) early April.

I really hope that Dio did record some proper vocals for all these tracks or did so for some of them already before his diagnosis so that the remaining members of his band could record their parts sometime in the future.

This might be possible but there are too many if´s, so we might never know ...

That sounds very accurate. My hope is more that he had recorded more of the MII tracks earlier, as he did with Electra, with at least demo/rough vocals, before the cancer fight really began.

I have given my thoughts from August 22nd another run and I now feel that Ronnie´s stay in a studio that Jeff referred to must have been in March when Ronnie was reported to sing to the new Heaven & Hell DVD in a rehearsing studio. That makes absolutely sense. So there might not be any recorded vocals for new songs the band could use for another CD. There might after all be some demos from the time before autumn 2009. But then again, why are we (or I) dreaming of new Dio music? We already have so much to thrive on. If "Metal will never Die" and "Electra" are the last in line I am fine with that after all.

Wendy said on her interview with Rolling Stone magazine that Niji Entertainment will release 2 or 3 more songs for Magica.

And she's talking about Memoirs. Is it the one which Ronnie has been writing ??
I remember he said last year that he's writing Rainbow part yet....

That sounds very promising. Electra was such a great track and so I feel Ronnie wrote them with all guns blazing (creatively) when he crafted those songs.

So there are 2 or 3 other tracks and not 7 or 8 as reported last year. But who cares, this is the best musical news I received in ages!

Maybe they could record the other songs writen with the band and some interesting guest singers. All tracks would be written by Ronnie and recorded by the band so it would be a true Dio record after all.

We would have 4 songs sung by Dio and 4-5 more sung by others.
Then Craig could write two instrumentals a la "Annica" and the world would get on killer CD!

Well a man can dream but here is my suggestion for the singers:

Doro
Dickinson
Halford
Tate
Hughes

Such an album could become a best seller amongst the metal community worldwide.

It would be a great monument for the late great RJD that would stand the test of time as yet another classic.

Frankly I think 'Jack Black' could do a better job than all those singers you mentioned.

I am very pleased that there may be a few finished tracks we'll get to hear!

I have heard dozens of singers defile Ronnie's music all summer long. The few that were good were females, and a Japanese band I heard on YouTube covering 'Stargazer' that did such a surprisingly good job that it's worth mentioning.

Nobody can do Dio like Dio. I have been searching the earth for the person who can.

I wanna hear Jack Black do a Tribute show for Dio! Wink

Jack Black has talent oozing out of every core of his body.

I tend to agree with you. If they can get Dio's voice an a couple/few tracks, then have others come in and guest sing, that could make for a great album. Especially if Dio has already written the songs. Your list of singers is pretty good, too.
