|
|
The first official release from Niji Entertainment Group, the label formed by the late Ronnie James Dio and his wife/manager Wendy Dio, will be "Dio At Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987". Due on November 9, the two-CD deluxe digipak comes with a booklet filled with rare photos from both concerts. It also includes both "All Access" backstage laminates from 1983 and 1987.
1983 was the first time DIO played in the United Kingdom and the band's first show just happened to be the legendary Monsters Of Rock event.
"Dio At Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987" features material that was recorded on two different tours — the "Holy Diver" trek from 1983 and the "Dream Evil" tour from 1987.

Wow! I have bootlegs of those two of course.
But I want to buy it because I want a booklet.
CD can be available with this web store only ?
Or we could buy CD shops in Japan too ? _________________ ☆Tell me lies as long as it's not about love☆ |

Excellent news! I made the overnight bus trip to Donington in 87. Weather forecast was for rain, rain and more rain, so what did everybody wear to an all-day outdoor gig in a muddy field? Denim jackets, jeans and white baseball boots of course! I do remember being very cold, very wet and very muddy (mum and dad were right!) then seeing steam rising up off the 80,000 crowd during each bands show.
We had another overnight bus home and never slept for 48 hours. Felt like we'd been away for a week, but it was 100% worth it.
I've got the Friday Rock Show tape of that gig somewhere, but would be great to have it on cd. I was sure they played Temple of the King but it's not on the track listing. Did Ronnie sing the intro as part of a medley?
Anyone know of any Dio Donington photos on the web? YouTube have some 87 footage of Anthrax and Metallica earlier in the day and Bon Jovi headlining, but that's all I can find. Given the available technology back then it ain't the best quality... |

This is a good idea with a some extra thought in mind, a double helping of Dio at Donnington. The 87 Dream Evil period is interesting as it will feature Craig as an official document. PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

Just found this: http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/donington-1987.html
That first photo of WASP and the one of Craig further down the page is exactly how I remember the day. As close to the stage as possible, crowd going nuts, steam and smoke everywhere. |

Me too, although I'm not sure why - I've already got the 87 gig taped from the Friday Rock Show and a couple of songs from 83 as B-sides to singles. Maybe it's just because it's a new cd from my favourite band. |

I was wondering.. since the '83 concert was a Monsters Of Rock show... was this gig filmed??
Do any of you guys who were there remember if there were any cameras at this gig?? |

I can only remember Whitesnake being the only band to bring in the cameras for the show as they were the headlining act.
Whitesnake camp filmed it themselves for the WHITESNAKE - COMMANDOS - LIVE AT DONINGTON PARK 1983 video tape. |

| I wasn't at MoR 83, but I can vaguely remember a monthly metal video that came out around that time. Was it Hard'n'Heavy? Or maybe something related to Metal Hammer magazine? I'm sure they did a Donington special every year, don't know when it started though. I never bought one of the videos, but saw a couple at a friends house. Anyone else remember? |
