at first I wasn't digging the production/drum sound..but it is my favorite Dio era Sabbath. This album bleeds raw power and emotion.

I.

this was def not a warm analog tone...it's very digital sounding to me, especially to their past work together.

Both the original heaven and hell & Mob Rules albums have a very warm analog tone.

I bought this when it came out. Very underrated album, a bit gloomy for my liking, but a great collection of songs. The one thing I hated was the digital type recording, really lost something there compared to the older albums.

Just didn't have that "depth" in the sound. I understand a new remixed version soon if not now? (been out of the loop for a while now, but would love a better sounding version)

My "best" songs...

Computer God
Letters From Earth
Master Of Insanity
Too Late
I

I will admit to listening to TV Crimes and Time Machine every once in a while as well

that is my least favourite DIO era sabbath album but it's still fantastic, all the songs are very good/great so it would be easier if i mention the weakest imo:Master of insanity, buried alive

and for me this album is little too long...

I think that is somewhat generational. The album was definitely more of a modern sound compared to the previous albums and the time period it was released. It is my 15 yr old son's favorite Sabbath Album, but his idea of what Metal is is based on his generations description of Metal

Yeah, I thought they could have done a little better with the extra tracks though for sure.

yes it is totally different to H&H and Mob rules, I'm 18 but I love classic metal(heavy, doom, thrash) and hard rock and prog rock, and heavy metal from 90's is not my favourite genre, but come on, compare heavy metal from 80's and all music genres from 80's to this 90's crap...

another thing is that dehumanizer is so underrated, maybe expectations in 92 were too big to satisfy people by only fantastic album and not a perfect one like H&H and Mob Rules

i,ve always liked this album , particularly the songs - I , TV Crimes , & Buried Alive , back in 1992 i went to see Black Sabbath on the Dehumanizer Tour at 3 differant venues in the U.K. , & it was a great show on each night i saw them , Dehumanizer may not be as great as the Heaven & Hell & Mob Rules albums , but i also do think its a underated album aswell folks .

It's Sabbath no doubt! One of the best albums for sure! I love every Sabbath album, and this one is pretty close to the top. Very angry sounding record, that continued on in both Cross Purposes and Strange Highways.

I can't say how happy I am that there really hasn't been written anything negative about this album here sofar.

I think, that Dehumanizer sounds great - sure its sound is very different to that of Heaven and Hell or Mob Rules but hell... We are talking 92 now. Aren't we?
Though I have to admit that some 8 years ago when I began listening to Ronnie it was quite of a shock for my ears. Back then I also thought that Heaven and Hell and Mobrules sounded much better, but later I realized that it's ideal for it (just listen to Computer God for instance and you'll get a complete audiovisual experrience).

Now I think that it is one of Ronnie's most brilliant records - better yet: It has everything a proper record with Ronnie should have: speed, power, melody and meaningful and beautiful lyrics.
To me it overshines any Ozzy era Sabbath because Dehumanizer simply has it all and much more! I can't even explain it with words.
It's simply out of this world and it totally kicks ass!

And honestly... Would you say that Ronnie was nearly 50 those days?
Untill Ronnie's death I could not and would not believe it! And even now it's difficult to do!

'I' was the first track I liked, than came Too Late, Letters from Earth and Time Machine (not necesarily in that order)!
Now I absolutely lo ve all the tracks.
This album is full of surprises and one has to have an open mind when listening to it, but once it gets you it gets you for good and never lets you go!
Actually it's my most favourite Sabbath record.

I also bought the 2011 deluxe edition, but I personally can't hear the difference - to me it doesn't sound anyhow different than the original release. Am I alone here?

There probably wouldn't be much if any difference in the sound quality between the '92 & deluxe release as it would have been originally recorded digitally & while you could probably play with the mix, I don't know if you can digitally remaster something that is already recorded digitally to improve it a lot (I'm no sound engineer though) I think the point of it is to include the non album tracks & the live tracks really.

What a great album.
I hear it a lot these days at Constitution Square here in Athens, especially the days of June 28-29 for those who know what happened. It kept me going through !!!
Long live RJD \m/ still missing him!
