They have a huge following and its well deserved. Good on them for producing a great album. I know i am quite hard on them these days but they are an awsome band. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

I'd go to see them but not in a stadium setting. Never liked gigs like that. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Man, the last time I saw them, Quiet Riot opened for them on the Metal Health tour, which I believe would put them in the "Piece of Mind" era tour.
I am way over due for a Maiden show. There is a tribute band called "Made in Iron" coming to town next month. Maybe that will hold me until then.

IRON MAIDEN are on track to have a No. 1 album in the U.K. this Sunday, with their latest effort, "The Final Frontier" (EMI), selling more than three times as many as its nearest competitor, EMINEM's "Recovery" (Interscope), so far this week.
"The Final Frontier", the band's 15th studio album, has sold more than 22,000 copies, while "Recovery" has sold around 7,000 this week in the U.K., according to Official Charts Company midweek figures.
Who would have thought Metal beating Rap in the charts |
Metal Wins !!!
IRON MAIDEN's new album, "The Final Frontier", has registered the following first-week chart positions so far:
Finland: #1
United Kingdom: #1
Sweden: #1
Australia: #2
Ireland: #3
Belgium: #6 |

Thanks Gary,
But how did they fare in the good old USA? Are my people buying some metal over here or are we put to shame?

I got out and bought the CD today. The first track had me worried. About 4 minutes into it, and still no vocals; just the same drum and guitar lick over and over. I thought "Well, it's unique, but I'm ready to get off this ride."
Then the real song started. Excellent. I have not bought a new Maiden record in years, so I don't know how their past releases have been. But this reminds me of how thrilled I was to play "Piece of Mind" for the first time. Anxious to hear each new song. I only made it through the first 3 songs, had to go to work. But I think it was a wise purchase.
Don't know anything about the new guitarist. New to me. Dave Murray and Adrian Smith were the only 2 axemen when I was staying current with them. Any opinions on him or how he fits with 3 guitarists in a band?
Thank you all for the suggestions on this release.

I love the long intro into Final Frontier
You must mean Janick Gers.
He's been in the band for about 15 years now , he replaced Adrian Smith and when Smith came back Iron Maiden became a 3 lead guitarists band.
There is a some great moments on the cd, they could have played it safe but Maiden don't do that, there some experimentation on the cd but its tiny and nothing to worry about it is 100% Iron Maiden.
I can't remember the song but some of the guitar playing reminded me of 2112 from Rush.Going too far back into Maiden's cds would be wrong becoz then we are talking about the Classics this cd is not as easy to pop in and listen as ''Brave New World'' but its not as intricate as "A Matter Of Life of Death" but it is better than "Dance of Death".
Its mostly what I am expecting, why change after all these years at top, its 100% consistent and very intriguing not sure if its becoz this is something new from the band or that they have played around with many different guitar techniques but I love it.
Very tradition and very much Iron Maiden with a hint of pure class if you ask me.
Jeffrey...don't forget about getting yourself ''Brave New World''

Now that I have had the CD for a few days, I am loving it more and more. Truly a classic in the making. Bruce is in top form, as well as the rest of the band. The video is cool, too. Didn't realize at first that Eddie was on the cover, just changed a little.
The #4 album over here in the US? Makes me proud. And all of those countries have them at #1. I never would have expected it.
