Strange Highways is the heaviest Dio album to date and in fact one of the heaviest albums of all time. I like it and it sounds as if Ronnie was pissed off after not that long walking out on Sabbath 92. He sounds very angry and nasty and this slice of music proves it, very dense thick with Tracy`s G`s gutsy sound and style.
Brutal stuff, Evilution and most of the songs here are insane and beserk, this album is nuts and I love it! PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

Don't know about you guys but lately I have been playing this a lot.
Just feels like a new DIO cd to my ears. |

Listening to 'Strange Highways' the song today, I've been reminded of how much I love Tracy G's screaming wild harmonics.
Dio's growly voice fits w/mean metal.
Great album.
So different from stuff like Elf and Rainbow that it is mind blowing.
Does the art follow the money? Or the money follow the art?
A question comes to mind, would Dio have preferred to make music more like rainbow or heavy like this, if both were guaranteed wild commercial success??
I can't help but wonder. I am intrigued and please there are both. Ronnie had such versatility with his voice.
I sound like an ass singing on heavy stuff, but I can sing soft and pretty. He could just fit on anything it seems to me.
Lol, I remember the track 'Firehead' made me wanna start a band named 'Firehead.' _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

It has a very dark lyrical and feel to it, feels like it's just taking Dehumanizer to the next step. Not as good as DH, but you can definitely hear Iommi in Tracy G's playing. A great record, other than a few spots. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

AWESOME album.
I've always wondered how the NEXT Dio/Sabbath album would have sounded had a follow-up to "Dehumanizer" been recorded, given how good "Strange Highways" and Sabbath's "Cross Purposes" are.
a lot of people don't like Tracy G., but I think he was just what Dio needed at the time. |
