For me from the first time I read the lyrics I imagine the tower of stone is the pyramids the ancient Egyptians is we how built it. maybe because I’m Egyptian & still feel
I feel like WE
We believe
My eyes are bleeding
don’t know why
is it far is it far?
Now where do we go
We still hope

the symphony Stargazer

I see the aspect of Stargazer both in ancient and in contemporary.

A star is a destination, a goal. Your star may not be what someone else's star is.

When we look back to the age of the pharaohs the people were not exactly slaves. They believed in their ruling class. They believed they were helping them obtain their star and in turn they believed that star was their's as well. This star was the afterlife. In many cases this ruling class were seen as gods on earth. They had immense wealth that could be bestowed upon the people. The people built monuments to this living gods to take them straight to the sky for their journey in the afterlife. But no one sees them rise to this afterlife and these monuments get robbed of their riches. Riches that were supposed to be taken with that ruling class to the afterlife. The years that someone spent which would be back breaking work would be for naught.

If we move to contemporary time and we look at the wizard as a coach of a sports team and the narrator as one of the players we can see the similarities. A coach with an overbearing personality that booms to the players that their star is the national championship and if they just follow him and do what he says they will win this prized cup. So the players with the blood and sweat win game after game building this wizard his tower to the championship. They play their hearts out for this star.

But when they get there they lose the game. The wizard instead of rising falls. They are disillusioned because the wizard said if they do as he says they will reach that star. They believed in him and they did not win the championship so they lose faith. They question the journey to get there and whether or not it was their goal as well. All the sweat and blood/pain, ie work and injuries sustained in winning game after game in building that tower to the championship was all for naught since they lost the game that meant the most. They question the motives of this coach and whether it was worth their time and sacrifice to win him his star. When teams win national championships coaches are often elevated in status. They are at the top of the world.

I love both interpretations posted here, Stargazer and A light in the black are masterpieces of all time, full of magic, amazing fact is that the songs were written 34 years ago and we are still wondering what about they are and how it's possible to make over 16 minutes of pure genious
