From what I've heard I definitely liked Messiah's vocals more than whomever sings on the two newest albums, which I didn't find that interesting, it was listenable, but not something I'd buy.
soo I'm planning on buying Tales of Creation because it's been sitting at a local music shop for awhile and I've almost bought it a million times, but I decided I will, haha
and Messiah's hair is absolutely ridiculous haha

| Candlemass, to me, are one in a million. Their music has such a dark and almost creepy atmosphere. Nightfall is probably my favorite album. |

They`re just the best in their genre. Doom as good as it gets.
I went to see them at "Sweden rock festival" a few years ago when Messiah rejoined the band for the first time. What a show! Of course the earliest works like "Nightfall", "Tales of creation" and "Ancient dreams" are the best but be sure to check out the reunion cd named simply "Candlemass". Think it was released around -95

Simply put - Awesome, Thunderous, Exemplary Dood
Although I have to be in the right mood for some of the Messiah vocals, I still love all eras of this band.
Epicus is to me, one of the best examples of a doom album and an album where the skip button is banished in favour of the repeat button.
For me, Rob Lowe is the best singer in the band since Johan Lanquist and King of the Grey Islands is a masterpiece and the best since Epicus - with the eponymous album coming in third.

Well, actually Candlemass was released in 2005.

Hey, speaking of Candlemass, I learned of a number of B-Sides and rarities they have.....(for example, Battlecry can be found on Nightfall's Bonus CD, on YouTube there is a cover of Countess Bathory) There are two songs I want to hear by them though and can't find...Edgar the Grey and Planet of the Apes....Thanks _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

One of my all time favorites, very nearly the originators of epic melodic doom.It blew my mind about Robert becoming vocalist.I had been away from the scene for a while,I had no idea whatsoever that was going to happen,I had not talked to John for a while.I made a mix of just CM and SA giving it the title "Candelus Aeturnus" and then two weeks later I heard about Robert's plans, weird sort of psychic moment.
Been listening to the band since about 87,never,ever thought in a million years that the lead singer of freaking Candlemass would know my name, life is really strange (and cool) sometimes......... _________________ Sword of Terraroth,fantasy/sci/fi with influences of Tolkien,Dungeons and Dragons,Grimms, mythology and the lyrics and concepts of metal bands,in particular the mystical words of Dio.The rainbow shines like magic in the dark of the midnight sky........ |
