Hey all,

I haven't heard anything about Jimmy Bain in years. All I know is he played with Vinny Appice WWIII and 3 legged Dog I believe. I always thought him and Dio were best friends, at least in the 1980s.

But when Dio passed, I was expecting to hear something from him. Has he retired or still playing around in different bands?

Last time I read anything he was pissed off with Vinny Appice for touring and being in Heaven and Hell.
Jimmy has not logged into his myspace account since 18th of May.

There is an interview you can listen to here.

Of course when you get fired from a job you are not always gonna say good things about your employer.

What are the rules for naming and shaming?
The explicit "naming and shaming" of individuals is not permitted for the following reasons:
To avoid false and malicious naming and shaming
To avoid libellous posts

No, no, no. I wasn't trying to hear anything negative or start trouble. I didn't expect personal matters or private things.

I simply didn't know if he was still active in music world. I know he has to be getting older like the rest of us. I wanted to find out what he was up to, not hear if he had anything bad to say about Dio. I didn't even know he was fired from Dio. I just thought he left.

If you think this post will start trouble, or if it gets out of hand here, delete the whole thing.

I just listened to the interview. Boy, i had no idea he had hard feelings with Ronnie. He really sounds like a sore loser. Too bad for him. He really let me down.

Sorry I asked now. I thought more of him before this. Be careful what you ask, I guess.

Yes, from the sound of it, Jimmy seems to feel a little burned.

Definitely some discrepancies in his interview from the way things were reported years ago, like Viv being fired, the way I remember it he left Ronnie High and Dry, and even then Ronnie was nice about it because he thought Viv was going off to make his own music. Things didnt get nasty until he joined Whitesnake to play John Sykes songs, and Ronnie had the nerve to ask where the creativity was in that.

Bain's about Craig were uncalled for, and even though the Viv years were my favorite albums, my favorite DIO song is with Craig. Craig has left his mark on the Band DIO every bit as much as Viv ever did.

Did David Coverdale not phone Ronnie to ask what Viv was like to work with and by all accounts Dio said wonderful things to David about Viv.

Its funny both guitarists have been following in each other footsteps from that day when Jimmy Bain got Ronnie to listen to Campbell and Sykes.
If only Dio had picked Sykes Cool
I have always been a fan of John Sykes more than Campbell, Sykes has more substance, tone and sound.

Yep Ronnie was very complimentary about Viv to Mr Coverdale, its a shame things seemed to go down hill between Ronnie and Viv.

But I agree Sykes and Dio would have been an incredible combination and I think would have formed a long a fruitful partnership. I love what each Dio guitarist has brought to the table but I think Sykes would have pipped them all.

I'm not sure what John Sykes is up to now. For a while I thought he was touring with Thin Lizzy, handling guitar and vocal duties. But last I heard he had quit that and was putting his talent to use on another band.

But now I can't think of what band or musician he is working with.

This is what it says on his myspace page

Quote:
For the last several years John has been releasing material under the name Sykes. Also, he and Scott Gorham still tour successfully as Thin Lizzy with John handling the vocals for the late great Phil Lynott.
