Hey guys, I'm wondering what is the future of these albums now that Ronnie is gone. I know he had both albums at least written out, but I don't know how many tracks he actually recorded his voice on. All we know of course is about Electra. Is there maybe a future release of these albums or will this work be lost forever? I'm hoping that someone who was close to him and understood his prowess could put the tracks together if he somewhat completed them. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

And from an update Wendy gave earlier this year we learn that Ronnie met with Craig in March to write new songs. My guess is that there may be 8 to 10 songs written for the project but they should all be demos.
I doubt these demos can be used in the studio to record an album but I sure hope so. The band could play their parts and then Ronnies vocal tracks could be mixed in. But what I really doubt is that there are any plans to do so and release an unfinished album. |

I would love to have a Magica II to continue the saga. Thank you for the link. Reading his plans and hopes, devotion to his work, makes me miss him more.
Can't wait to hear what is in store for a next release.
Thank you.

Unless they wrote them in the studio, who knows if there are even Demos. Ronnie was obviously very sick, even though he was trying to keep his head up threw it all. It is very possible that they never recorded any of it.
Not trying to be a downer, but I'm not real optomistic at this point. Unless something comes out soon, I would not count on it. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

In the interview I posted a link to Ronnie said that 7 - 8 songs were ready. That was last autumn. Electra was conducted and recorded at the same time.
In another interview last year I read that Dio had been writing songs for Magica II & III between the various tours since at least 2006. Unfortunately I canīt find a link to that interview any more.
He had an advanced studio in his house and he was able to play guitars, bass and keyboards + Simon was never too far away either.
Here is an interview with Craig from 2007 where he briefly adresses the way Ronnie worked on new songs using modern technology at home:

So I would not rule out the possibility that some quality demos from the period between 2006 amd 2009 do exist. But I doubt that they ever get released to the public in any form. |

A great interview, and I think it would be amazing to see Magica II in whatever form they can release it. I love that saga, and Elektra just makes me hungry for more. If it is anywhere near done, so that it could be mixed/released (in other words, if the songs are written and some usable vocals recorded) it would be a crime not to release it, since Ronnie wanted it finished so much. I'm sure they have enough on their plate right now, but I hope that in a few months Wendy and the Niji folks can let us know the situation and likelihood. I'm sure Ronnie discussed the possibilities with them. Given the speed he could work at, I wouldn't be too surprised if Magica II is ready for final mixing and production somewhere! _________________ FINIS PER SOMNIVM REPERIO TIBI SACRA COR VENEFICVS OSTIVM AVRVM. |

| I have been really hoping this would come up. I wasn't sure how to bring it up without sounding selfish. If these tracks do exist even in demo state then it would be a shame if they wern't released. We all know how Ronnie liked every song to be the best it could be before release but I'm sure his fans would approve. |

I have been wondering about this as well, because I was really looking forward to these CD's. Pretty sure they will never happen, but then I was thinking, that if the story was written before he passed away, it would be a really cool idea if Wendy could possibly make some sort of graphic novels out of them. I know its not near as good as a CD, but I feel the fans would love to find out how the story ends.
Anyway, if not then I'll be happy either way. Just an idea I had a couple days ago and thought it would be very cool. |

I hope Ronnie had a chance to finish Magica 2 at least. I would love to hear this as Magica is a masterpiece. _________________ Psalms 91 |

I have to share the sentiments of everyone here. I would love to hear the work, even if it were incomplete.
I am into rough demo recordings. I like to hear the process of the song being born and developed. It would be so awesome to hear some of these rare, never heard before recordings.
Magica II. We can dream. Maybe some interesting tracks will one day come to light. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

God i can only hope this will come to pass. Alass The tragic passing of Ronnie is that a huge bulk of creative godlyness passed with him... If this ever comes to the light of day i'll be the first in line to buy it, However, I fear that it is so much like every other great artist, Thier lives are so full of creativity that they pass leaving unfinished works that only the lucky and the closest ever get to get a gimps of. I know that the world is already a less brilliant place with out Ronnie's bright light to shine though the darkness.
The only other time in my life i have felt such a great longing for works left undone was the passing of Louie Lamore when i was in the 7th grade... My favorate auther was gone, But at that time at least ronnie was still puting out music...maybee the got lucky and checked out before all hell broke lose. _________________ May I put that on your Sears Card? |

This might be another topic but...
When compared to Freddie Mercury's final days, Ronnie's were completely different. While Freddie was getting close to death, he tried to record as much music as possible, but when Ronnie was becoming very ill he didn't do anything. I wonder why? Was he suddenly just too ill? Or maybe they were as musicians so different that when it was Ronnie's time to go there wasn't anything for him to do?
Of course I would want to hear Magica 2 or 3 too (knowing the 1st one was great, also with my favorite Dio song Lord of the Last Day).

Freddie knew a lot sooner that he wasn't going to make it (given the prognosis for an AIDS diagnosis at the time).
Based on interviews and what-not, I think Ronnie fully expected to beat the cancer, right up until the last week when he got so much sicker.
I suspect that that kind of "preparing for the end" would have felt too pessimistic to him. He wanted to focus on getting better instead. |
