What do you think of Draconian?

I actually have not heard them, I think Paul Kuhr of Novembers Doom guested on on of their albums,I would like to hear that.To tell the truth though,as I get older,I prefer more fantasy/storytelling lyrics.

These days I am looking more to "escape",lately I have been listening to a lot of Dio's more fantasy oriented music within Sabbath,Rainbow and his solo work,as well as certain older songs of Solitude,Candlemass,Sorcerer.

I also like to listen to the fast stuff,Rhapsody,Grave Digger,Blind Guardian, older Dragonforce, some Helloween, and then other metal like Savatage,Fates Warning, early Uriah Heep, basically anything that lyrically tells a story, as opposed to so much of the depression and angst.

Of course I can't get completely away from the more down to earth somber stuff,I am after all a major Sabbath,Pentagram,Saint Vitus fan !

For the most part, whatever Tony Iommi does next,I will be there, same holds true for Bobby Liebling,my friends Victor Griffin,John,Robert, and Solitude/Candlemass.I would also be on board definitely if Vitus recorded again.

Beyond my favorites/friends in doom though, what I am most likely to spend my money on is something with more adventure/fantasy type lyrics.

I have,in the last five years or so, gotten heavily into the "beauty and the beast" style music. With a few exceptions that I mentioned earlier, for the most part I like my music to have both growling and beautiful female vocals.

Though I was somewhat familiar with the style, from the two excellent tracks of Paradise Lost on the Gothic album,I didn't know how many bands actually played like that.

Some of my favorites are

older Sirenia,Tristania,Orphanage,Trail Of Tears,Novembers Doom,Virgin Black,Galadriel, another great not very well known band is The Aerium, which could be described as Nightwish meets black metal, without the black vocals.Though their name is one of the worst ever (ugh !) Mighty D is pretty good too, their female vocalist is great and she plays the mean heavy guitar in the band.

I have always liked heavy music with female vocals, other favorites include the thrash of Znowhite, the doomy sound of Sacrilege, early Left Hand Solution, and the total epic doom of Mourn.
