Hello All.
I have a quick question.
First a little about me. I am a BIG Dio fan. I still can't believe he is gone. Here I am a 6'2" 38 yr old male who played sports and was always known as a tough SOB you didn't want to mess with, and here I am today watching a DIO concert DVD from Japan 1985. I just got it in the mail today. I pop it in and after a few moments of seeing him and hearing his wonderful voice, I have tears flowing down my face. I'm not sure why I've been doing it, but I've been listening to various DIO live material since his passing and every time I have to fight back tears. As with all of you, I love DIO and the music he made, but also how he conducted himself. I was always proud to say I was a fan of Dio. He was a class act, a gentleman and one of the greatest entertainers of our time, or any time for that matter.
So, anyway, before I ramble on further. Here is my question.
Do you ever think it will be possible to have a site that makes any Dio Bootleg material available for download? I'm not talking illegal copies of commercial material, but concert or live performance material. You know concert bootlegs? I had a friend who was a BIG Grateful Dead fan and he used to love the fact that the Dead had a site where you could trade and I think download thousands of bootleg concerts from their past shows. I'm curious to know if something like this might ever be possible for us Dio fans. I know some boots for some bands can sound outright horrible, but I can't imagine that ever being the case with Ronnie. He was just too good. His voice was always amazing.
I'm still deeply saddened to know I'll never get to hear his voice or see him live in concert again. I really am devastated.

My ethic is that everything has to reach for perfection. No, you never can do that, it’s impossible; you’re never going to get perfection and if you do, you might as well shoot yourself!
But if you keep striving for it, no matter what you do, whether it’s rehearsal, whether it’s a gig, whether it’s writing, you always go for that and then you know, chances are that you’re going to be very consistently putting out product that people will want to hear. |
Until then for me, I will wait for the official products thank you very much |

Well, perhaps official released material may be put forth for fans to purchase. I know I'd love to get CD or DVD concerts of any Dio tour. I have 4 or 5 Dio DVDs (official), 1 Rainbow, and the recent Heaven & Hell CD and DVD shows. I just don't want to see the end of Dio's music. It's already truly heart breaking to know we will never hear new material, but if past music or video from concerts were to be released then that would be at least something to look forward to.

You can't say there will be no more releases, none us know what is hidden in the archives.
Its not the end of Dio's music...the fans will never allow that to happen
I know we have for sure the 30th anniversary Heaven and Hell DVD due out sometime later in the year to look forward to.
John there is gonna be loads of stuff from DIO to look forward to just hang in there.I am also looking forward to this.

I am certainly curious about something.
There are many 'rare' dio song demos on YouTube. I can't help but wonder who put these out, and how they got their hands on them in the first place.
For instance, there is an earlier developed version of 'This is your Life.' Also, I see 'dehumanizer' demos on there.
Again, I just tend to wonder who had access to these tracks. I can't imagine the person who posted them had the blessing of the copyright owner.
I love rare stuff, but I also appreciate the perfection in 'official' releases.
Plus, why should Ronnie work for free? Artists deserve to get paid. |

| ^Those were from the Dehumanizer demo sessions, taken from Cozy Powell's room postmortem, iirc. And the angry machines demos, I believe Tracy G released them. I believe there was also a Rainbow demo album called Tower of Babel. And if they wanted the fans to have the early recordings of their songs, I think we should respect their wishes and let them release whatever they want. After all, the material is partially their creative property, too. |
