This is my favorite Dio album, in my opinion also the most underrated one.
I just love each and every song on it, and I love the album cover.
I bought that one the day after I heard my first Dio song in my fave club, asked the DJ who that was, next day I did some shopping.
Since I had only heard "Rainbow in the dark" at the club, I did not know much of him, but his voice I found fascinating... So not knowing what to really get, I looked at the covers, and - now don't ya laugh - the little black cat on this one was the crucial factor in my decision...
A decision I never regret either, just one fantastic album, Sunset Superman and Night People being two of my alltime faves... _________________ This is your life

| This is my all time fave Dio band album. If it wasn't for the last track "When A Woman Cries" which Ive never liked, it would be completely flawless. Dio has had some classic songs opening his albums, but for me, none more classic than the surging "Night People". Craig Goldy is my fave Dio guitarist. And he is awesome on this album. He may not be as technically great as some of Dio's other guitarists, but his soul and feel are unmatched. The first 4 tracks on this album are absolute classics, including the masterful "Sunset Superman" and the beautiful "All The Fools Sailed Away". While the 2nd half of the album contains the jaw dropping "Faces In The Window". The album has such a sense of urgency, and excitement, and that's why it is my fave Dio album. It has an energy about it that just sucks me in. This was Dio at his very, very best. Awesome album! \m/ |

| All due respect to the ones who love Dream Evil--I could never get into it. I think it's too keyboard-leaden but my main complaint is Goldy's guitar playing. Seems messy to me on this album I don't think his style gelled on a Dio disc until Magica--a lot cleaner playing. Anyway, the compositions are decent but this is not one of my favorite Dio discs. |

| I think "Dream Evil" is a perfect combination Rainbow/Giuffria: I love it! |

Hello there, I got to disagree with you saying Craig Goldy's playing is messy, I love the the riffs and solos, they are strong and impossible to forget.
I think Craig Goldy out classes 'Lady' Vivian on so many different levels here on this record.
When I heard this cd for the first time...my first words were "Vivian who?"
Anyway your are allowed your opinion but the word 'messy' so harsh. |

My favorite cd (with Magica) I loved HD-LIL-SH but when Craig joined the band it was awesome, and it was the first time I saw Dio live (I remember a small place in France, Strasbourg). But Dio made it big and the band was great, the show was great (especially the duel between the plant , spider and Craig )
Craig gave fresh blood on this cd and a special touch, and with Ronnie they wrote great songs .
I was also happy to see the comeback of Murray on the cover ( for me he was protecting the child).
We were lucky because with each guitarist there was a new DIO sound, some people prefer viv-craig-Rowan-tracy-doug... it doesnt matter because it gave us new flavors, with the powerful voice of Dio.
On the cover I loved the clown with the knife, I still have the metal pins of it.

I love this album! In my top 3.
I remember being so bummed out when Viv left and then I heard this. Vivian who?!!
Craig Goldy rips on this one and, I GOT TO SEE HIM KILL A GIANT ROBOTIC SPIDER ON STAGE IN 1987!!!
Name another guitar player out there that can do that!
Seriously though, I love every song on this except for When A Woman Cries.
Too bad this line-up didn't last longer. |

Great album. This one was released the year I was born, so when I bought it I had the feeling it would be my favorite. I was wrong, but I do love this album.
Craig is my favorite DIO guitarist, though I can't really say why. I have loved the sounds of all the lineups, but for some reason I just prefer Craig. The intro to "Overlove" is just about enough to make me cry.
As always, the lyrics are excellent and Ronnie's vocals are perfect. I like how there's a bit more focus on keyboards for this album, too. This one gets back to the darker tones and more crunchy sounds of the albums before Sacred Heart. Classic DIO sound, I would say.
Favorite tracks: Dream Evil, Naked in the Rain, I Could Have Been a Dreamer _________________ "You'll never make me be like you. I'm Master of the Moon!" |

I think it's the production of Dream Evil that's the problem. Unlike the clean, sharp production of earlier albums, this one sounds muddled. Goldy is my nr.1 Dio-guitarist and I love the songs on this album. But, like you, I hate the sound. The guitar sounds messy, the bass at times completely lost.
Too bad, because some of the songs on this album are among Dio's best ever. |

I don't know what some folks are hearing when you listen to this, bad production and messy Ronnie was the producer, he always knows what is right for the DIO sound.
I think you need to sober up ...this cd is a classic.
Now I know why the NWOBHM started on these shores becoz if they had started anywhere else we would still be waiting.
This cd is master class in Heavy Metal and Craig Goldy is simply awesome. |

Dream Evil is a class album......this was the Dio bands 4th album in and I believe they were still on a high - I love so many tracks on this album.
Production wise, it is different from the previous Dio albums - I think the mix is very tight and may put some people off. Personally I think its heavy as hell and thats why I love it!
Hard pushed to pick on fav track but if pushed I would go with Faces in the Window. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Never had problems with the sound either, I just wish I had seen that tour...
Seen an old shirt at ebay, but since I consider all these sales now "making profit on Ronnies passing", I clicked on.... If Niji ever puts one in the shop, I will be sure to get it... yes I still love that album-cover, its a typical 80's metal cover , I dig those _________________ This is your life

Well, I saw the band live in august 1987, after the release of "Dream Evil".
I am italian, and that was the first Dio's gig here in Italy: unforgettable show!
From "Dream Evil" Ronnie played "Night Peple", "Dream Evil", "Sunset Superman", "All The Fools Sailed Away" and "Naked In The Rain". |
