Rimax my old friend, how are you?
If Iommi & Butler carry on with a new singer for Black Sabbath, I will checked them out if its Ozzy, I am not interested becoz if I heard Ozzy singing Heaven and Hell, I would jump of a bridge for sure.He would just murder the song.
Now if Jorn was to join Black Sabbath now that would be interesting but it can't be Heaven and Hell. And just for the sheer hell of it, I would love for someone like Luke Bell to sing for Black Sabbath of course I am playing Devil's advocate here
As for the members of DIO, if they had a cool name like Holy Diver or even Stand up and Shout and got a new vocalist and wrote new songs, I would be interested in that as well.
I would like to see someone like Roy Khan in the band for that.
Or lets be really different and have a female vocalist, either Doro or Veronica Freeman.
DIO without RJD will never be DIO.
He is irreplaceable |

At the memorial it was stated several times that Dio's music was from his heart, and he put everything he had into it. It was his passion, as well as his voice pushing his lyrics, which demand your attention. How can anyone cover that, and make it sound right?
Jon Oliva has the passion, but not the voice. Rob Halford has the voice, but not the passion...just can't get back there from here. The uniqueness of Ronnie is shown everytime someone tries to cover his songs. I'm not saying other groups shouldn't try, as imitation is the greatest flattery, but there will only ever be one Ronnie James Dio! _________________ ...and the time had come for the one to go to the temple of the king...RIP Ronnie. |

DIO will always have the one singer and that is Ronnie James Dio.
Queen replaced Freddie Mercury with Paul Rodgers great man, great singer but it was wrong for so many reasons.
It was not Queen and should never had the Queen label.
If the same happened with band DIO, I would be so pissed off. |
The Queen example is a great one. I know they called it "Queen With Paul Rogers", but the Queen name should not have been there at all. Freddie was irreplaceable, and so the Queen name should never have been used again with another singer. For me, they tarnished their legacy when they did that, and it made me very sad. Tribute concerts are different though, and that's absolutely fine.
Apparently Rob Halford is going to sing for the tribute shows which are being lined up, and for me, this is the perfect choice. As he has already filled Dio's massive shoes twice before at the legendary costa mesa shows. The band DIO can never ever perform under that name again, because as much as Ronnie tried to stress it was not a solo band, this is the way that most other people have viewed it. For me, DIO continuing without Ronnie, would be like if Ozzy died, and his band continued writing and performing as "Ozzy Osbourne" with another singer. The idea is ridiculous, and Im sure they would never do it anyway, but if they did, there would be a huge and justifiable backlash to it.
As for Heaven & Hell, they were really Black Sabbath in all but name. Even Ronnie himself said "we/you can call us anything you want, but we'll still be Black Sabbath". But Heaven & Hell was specific in that they played only the songs from Ronnie's era with the band. If Geezer, Tony, and Vinnie wanted to continue playing Sabbath songs with a new singer, I would not be against that. But it probably shouldnt be called Heaven & Hell. Id prefer them to go back to calling themselves Black Sabbath. (But seeing as Sharon Osbourne would probably try and block that, Id like them to use a new name instead of Heaven & Hell) If that were to happen, then I would love for Halford to do it. He has proved before he can do an awesome job with the band. But he probably couldnt commit to it, as he is too busy with Priest and other things. Also, the band should go back to playing their whole catalogue with any new singer, and not just do Ronnie's stuff. As that only felt right to do with Ronnie.
For me, the DIO band is dead. But Heaven & Hell can still continue under a different name with a new singer, and Id be fine with that. Geezer, Tony, and Vinnie can still make great music together, and because they are essentially Sabbath (even when they called themselves Heaven & Hell, I still saw them as Black Sabbath), and that band has already made many records without Ronnie, then I would not be against that. Ronnie can never be replaced, but his music will always live on. And it will still be a joy for me to hear great singers like Jorn Lande singing his songs. Of course it wont be the same, it can never be the same. But other talented singers can do a great job with his songs regardless. And Im sure that is the way Ronnie would have wanted it. \m/ |

Forgive me but I do not know who this Jorn Lande (spelling) is. Does he have some connection to DIO in the past? Is there a site to hear his voice?

HolyMagica,
Thank you for the link. Went to Amazon to hear some samples of him singing. I can't believe I haven't heard of him before. Love that kind of metal, it is becoming harder to find nowadays.
While he is a good singer, and his band sounds great, I still don't see him filling Dio's shoes, either in Sabbath or DIO. But, then again, I don't know who could or should.

According to a recent report Ozzy and Geezer have buried the hatchet on the BS trademark issue. _________________

Hmm...ah well, I always thought it was Sharon who was the driving force behind that lawsuit, not Ozzy. All the media said ''Ozzy'', but I think she was really the ones pulling the strings behind that.
If Tony and Geezer are free to use the Sabbath name again, then if they wanted to continue the band under that name, and play songs from all their catalogue, I would be quite happy for them to do that. Heaven & Hell would only work with Ronnie doing vocals, though they should no longer call themselves that if they want to continue. |

the only person I think will be able to sing remotely like Dio is Bruce Dickinson, would be cool if he did some tribute shows with the rest of the band |

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a KID that ummm was the Biological son of Ronnie and he look impressively alot just like Ronnie and had the same voice, look and moves as his dad?
Of course that would be badass....
What I wish to see happen is ALL the metal lead vocalists come together and pay repects in a a tribute song, where they all sing together in a song dedicated to Ronnie.
If at the least, Heaven & Hell calls it quits but re-structures itself with a new lead singer to carry on. It could even be Ozzy. But I think if they give up, we will all lose a great bunch of musicians.
Dio the band is done, you can't have the band play with another singer who isn't Dio. That would be like Cher without Cher or Elvis without Elvis...
The remaining Band members could / can move on though...
And we the fans can SUPPORT them as well. I would support Heaven & Hell, under the name of Black Sabbath with Ozzy but not as Heaven & Hell with anyone else but the Kid of Ronnie.
I trully bet your all that there is a Son of Ronnie out there, a son of a rockstar, but he remains in the shadows. Not willing to take over the legend his father was. Thats a hard pair of shoes to fill. But it would be nice, welcomed even to see that play out. But thats just not going to happen. I've seen a few bands in my lifetime try to fill the place of Ronnie and it just doesn't work. Again, Dio the band is finished. Same with Heaven & Hell.
But with overwelming fan support of these guys, we can help them and even lend a few ideas for them. I would support them and the music if they pulled off something for us all.
Hell..... I know this sounds strange, but many might even agree with me here. Whats wrong with the band still playing and using Dio / Ronnies recorded voice to carry on the music. That would be different, sort of errie even... but non the less badass too.
we would still see the guys playing, hear ronnies voice too.
Yeah that ain't happen either though. So lets just show support to the remaining band members if they stop altogether or go solo or split into other bands. Either way, they're lost without Ronnie too. They need fan support and hopefully there as much dedicated as Ron was to NOT even think about retirement.
I still got money to pay for music, tickets and would love to see the remaining band members pull something off? No voice will ever replace Dio's... but the band mates can find someone to sing and still give us some killer tunes to hear, right? |

I just don't want any other singers to sing in DIO band nor Sabbath band.
Because simply no one never can sing like Ronnie.
Ronnie created all the music itself by making many tunes with his guitar and bass, his vocals and unique lyrics.
All the songs are ronnie's art.
So only he can express his emotions like him.
Even if Rob will sing Heaven and Hell for instance, he cannot express deep emotion and thoughts and words created by Ronnie's own experiences and amazing inspiration.
Because that comes from Ronnie's deep inner feeling and soul.
Additionally Ronnie was an incredible singer.
He can sing a song by inprovisation and making melody or lyrics instantly on the site. See silver mountain middle part of Rainbow.
No one can do like that.
And his voice is such a wonderful, sexual, warm, beautiful and amazingly tireless.
I cannot accept any other singer's voice.Never.
I don't honestly want someone to revive the DIO songs or Black Sabbath songs.
Ronnie has done more than enough for long years for fans.
We have many many archinves. He has used up his energy to sing until the end of time.
How can we ask survived members to play any more?
Only Ronnie can sing in DIO and Heaven and Hell. |
This is exactly how I feel, only you said it in a better way than I could |

No one could fill Ronnies boots but two (already mentioned on here) could do a good job.
Jorn Lande amd Tony Martin. Jorn has in fact done a tribute to Ronnie.
Ozzy doing a couple could be interesting |
