Wendy,
When I was a little girl, it was your husbands voice that SAVED me. I come from a dark and not so warm background, but when HOLY DIVER came out and I heard "Rainbow in the Dark" as a 8 year old child I understood enough of his lyrics to feel protected by the words and his voice.
As the years passed, it was that same album that helped me get through my teen years, due to my childhood, I felt there was not a need to continue and my parents had me locked away with only my cassette player and headphones. In the player was Holy Diver. Over and over for years as I worked out my anger, my depression, my hurt from the pain and scars of my young life...Ronnie was there.
There are so many other times I can recall he was my comfort, my security blanket, the voice in my heart. I did all I could to 'meet' the man behind the voice by reading in magazines, and on TV. He was always so positive and tolerant of others.
Wendy, and to the rest of your family, my words will never fill the hole you must be feeling. Sadly I never personally met Ronnie, but if he was anything in private life as he was in print, it will take awhile for all of us to ever feel the same again.
My Passion for life, started with a stem growing from the ashes of my youth, flying strongly on the back of your husbands voice. I will contiue to find comfort there, and watch as my son now plays RJD and finds what he needs from his voice now too.
Best Wishes
