I'm suprised no one has written about this album. Its fierce!
I find it a sonically assaulting album with so much power. This line up of Dio was an interesting one and the resulting live album is a bit of a mixed bag.
Tracy G does a superb job on some tracks and yet on some others his 'original' (and I mean that as a compliment) style just rubs some of the songs - personally I think he tortues Mistreated by over playing yet I like his playing on Heaven and Hell.
Overall I think its a good album - from an audio persective I think its one of the 'loudest' Dio albums. Vinny's drums are very intense here.
Fav track - hard one but at a push Jesus, Mary and the Holy Ghost _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Most often I prefer polished studio recordings.
However, in contradiction with this statement, I totally loved 'Children of the Sea' and 'Heaven and Hell' on LIVE EVIL. Particularly because of the different way Dio sung. He sang it in a way that I think would have improved on a couple parts of the studio recording.
Your interest in this album makes me curious, esp since I really dug Tracy G w/Dio.
I'll give it a whirl. |

I love this album and in many ways much more intense and a better interpretation than most of the live Dio albums. Never had a problem with Tracy G, he brought in a different perspective than the other guitar players. I even like the way he did his own type solos rather than the same as the other players. It says it exactly what the album title track says...Inferno enough said. PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

Also a great album even though some people would consider it bad because of Tracy G.
I believe that on this album you can listen the best live performance from Ronnie (official album) of Last In Line, Rainbow In The Dark and We Rock.
Ronnie was just Excellent on this album.

I really enjoy this album. The live version of Mistreated on this album is my personal favorite on this album. _________________ Psalms 91 |

just listened to this cd this afternnon.
nice production job by ronnie, everything is good and loud. he's in great voice, vinny's drumming is immense, he hits those drums very hard.
don't mind tracey g's guitar playing for the most part. different.
quite like the version of mistreated/catch the rainbow.
good versions of we rock, last in line, all of disc 2 is pretty great.
what tracey was doing with the solo in don't talk to strangers (maybe my favourite dio song ever) god only knows. |
