First, I respectfully want to send my condolences to Wendy, family and friends.
It is difficult to say anything at this time, but I’ve seem so many messages that express exactly what I’m feeling and I can’t help writing about it too. As may people said, I also feel like I lost someone very close; the colleagues at work do not understand why I am so upset just why “someone famous died”; when I wake up the first thing that comes to my mind everyday is that we don’t have him anymore. The day, everything now has a different color. It is difficult to handle…
I always listen to Dio’s songs since I was 12 years old (I’m 36 now) and his voice touched me a lot. Music is an important part of my life, although it is not my profession (I’m engineer), but I studied violin and played in a Symphonic Orchestra for some years and I still sing and play guitar in a rock band, when time allows me to do that. Some musicians and composers can touch deep into our souls. My favorites are Johan Sebastian Bach and Beethoven for classical and Dio for rock. I shiver when I listen Dio’s voice, so nice, strong, good and severe at the same time, extracting and working with all ambivalence that is inherent to the human substance. Today we live in a world of mediocrity, where foolishness is celebrated tirelessly even in the rock world, where some figures makes us feel shame of being a rocker sometimes. It is necessary huge productions, fireworks, TV shows, scandals, drugs, sunglasses during interviews (I never understood this one!) in order to step the foot into the celebrity world. Counteracting to all of that, Ronnie proved his value being a gentleman, kind, polite, humble, using his intelligence and his unique voice, writing interesting and mysterious lyrics going from history, mythology, philosophy, psychology, social behavior through poetry, reaching human spirit with sensibility and depth. In this way, his is the greatest of all times. Once I read a book from Dr. Sigmund Freud, he wrote that there is a bond between the artist and his fans through his work. That is why I read so many positive comments from so many good people in this site, life experiences and nice things about how Ronnie influenced his fans. I’m proud to have his influence in my life.
Thank you Ronnie.
Dennis

| True words indeed. In my case, I didn't understand the he had become a part of me and when he died that part of me died with him. Such great impact this man had on numerous people. Let us honour his legacy by living life the Dio-way (no need to explain what that means)! |
