Blessings to a wonderful singer and an eternal spirit

I will never forget the day in 1982 when I first heard Ronnie's voice. The song was "Gates of Babylon" and I was instantly transported to another world by this incredible soaring voice and amazing storytelling, the likes of which I'd never heard before. Instantly I became a huge fan!

And there have been countless other such memories over all these years. I never met Ronnie but feel honoured to have seen him in concert twice, and also thanks to the likes of YouTube etc. I gained an even greater respect for him as a person, through his always articulate interviews and his great care and love for his fans.

I feel desperately sad, as if I have lost a dear friend now that Ronnie has passed on. I have to say that no other 'rock icon' has moved me, just an ordinary guy from the UK, as much as Ronnie has through his incredible music and spirit.

What comforts me a little is that Ronnie had a phenomenal and rewarding career from the '50s right up to the present day. How many other people can say that? He lived every day to the full and gave so much more than many of us could ever hope to give.

I feel thankful for the huge legacy that Ronnie left behind, a legacy that is timeless and will be treasured by all of us and by generations who follow.

Thank you Ronnie, God bless you and keep you in love, peace and harmony always. We all miss you so much and yet know deep in our hearts that you have not left us, you never will.
