TDYK is a great album and actually sounds like the boys enjoying being in a band together.....where as (and I dont know if its just me) Dehumaniser sounds like a band on the brink of self destruction. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

| TDYK was an album awaited for 17 years, this is reason why it's being so overrated I think. |

This is a difficult choice. Obviously, both albums are excellent. I only recently purchased a copy of Dehumanizer, and I have been listening to it for about 3 weeks now. It astounds me how good it is. In fact, it is much, much better than I had expected. (And that says a lot, because I have come to hold very high expectations for RJD and his bandmates.)
I enjoy TDYK, but it took me a while to get in to it. I think it is heavier and darker than I had expected, despite being a more mature-sounding album. On the other hand, I was thinking I might not like Dehumanizer too much, because it didn't seem to be received too well by the audience back then. So I was surprised when I found out I love it.
So, there's my vote: Dehumanizer beats TDYK, but not by much. In fact, as I sit here typing this, I'm thinking maybe I can't decide at all...
Nice to be a fan of a band that does everything so well. _________________ "You'll never make me be like you. I'm Master of the Moon!" |

Dehumanizer. The album is great, and it was also a reunion album in the early 90s. They didnt break up until Ozzy poked his nose back in the mix. TDYK is a good album, but its not as good IMO.
The reason Dehumanizer wasnt as accepted was because of the time period it came out. Music was changing towards the grunge era, and although this album rocked, it was different than the H&H & MR albums. So people were more interested in hearing those classic albums live. The tour did very well. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

I just picked up the Heaven and Hell album, not knowing that it existed b/c I'm a Black Sabbath DIO fan!
I think the Osbourne's are plainly litigious people for claiming ownership of Black Sabbath.
It really bugs me that Sabbath with Dio had to take a different name.
Total BS!!!!!
There are two Sabbaths. One Dio, one Ozzy.
I prefer Dio way more but love both. |

10 votes each ...I can't remember how I voted now
Both great cds but before very different.
alitivity makes a good point about the music scene at the time but if I remember alot of Europe did not buy into grunge, I know locally in my area, we was not that interested in the Seattle sound. We was listening to more Doom Metal from bands like Candlemass and Cathedral, so really Dehumanizer was not out of place for us.
I still can't make up my mind which I would play first rather than which one I like most. |

I had (and still have) "Dehumanizer" on cassette, and from the first moment I heard it, it has been one of my fave albums of all time. To me, it was always a criminally underrated album, and it seems like only in very recent years has it started getting the credit it deserves. It sounded like a band re-energized, a bit like what "Painkiller" did for Judas Priest. The band sounded young and up for it again. The sound of the album is massive, and I love every single song on it.
"The Devil You Know" is a great album, and songs like "Bible Black", "The Turn Of The Screw", "Double The Pain", and "Eating The Cannibals" became instant classics for me. Its not quite up there with the sheer awesomeness of "Dehumanizer". but it was a great comeback, and I love it a lot. So, "Dehumanizer" for me, but both albums are awesome! |
