I was about 14 when this friend of mine and I would sit down and listen to Deep Purple and Wishbone Ash. One day he played me this track sang by the most powerful, dynamic and expressive voice I've ever heard. It kept rolling into this incredibly relevant and catchy chorus phrase that went something like "Long live, rock'n'roll "... I asked him "Who the hell is that?!?" "Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio" he replied, since he knew I've heard it only with Turner and Bonnet. And that was the beginning... _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

| It must have been around '82 at a friends house. I was just a kid, only been listening to rock/metal for a couple of years at most. My friend put on a 12" picture disk that blew me away - Turn up the Night. He told me it was Sabbath, but I didn't believe him. I couldn't figure out why Ozzy's voice was so different! No way was this the same band that did Paranoid! I didn't want to look stupid so kept my mouth shut and ended up buying the record off him (still have it). A year or so later the same friend showed me the coolest album cover I'd ever seen. Dio - Holy Diver, just been released. Who? That guy who used to sing for Sabbath. Oh. We put it on and it blew me away, so I rushed out and bought it the next day which earned me a lecture from my parents about the satanic imagery I was bringing into the house! |

| It's hard to say, because my parents listen to Dio since I was born, but the 2 songs which took my breath away were Die Young and Stargazer!!!!!! |
For me the same!!!
I was 16 years old when I first heard Stargazer ! since then I heard it 1000 xxx thimes and more , until I listened to Die young.....I had the some feeling.
These are indeed DIO's best songs!
Now Look Look Look at the tower of stone.... _________________ Stargazer! |

Children of the Sea, my dad kept playing it when I was younger. I loved the intro and his vocals. It's still one of my favourites. |
Children of the Sea rocks. First song Dio & Tony wrote together, and they were both amazed at how easy it was. It's an incredibly evocative story-image.. |

Long Live Rock'n'Roll.
It was in 2003, I fell in love with Cozy Powell and bought the Rainbow disc only because of Cozy's drumming there. When I heard Ronnie singing... I've just f*cking struck by his voise... indescribable voice! I was very happy to meet Ronnie two years after and tell him this - he was very touched and said thank you to Cozy _________________ I'll carry on to do it right, or... get out! (c) Cozy Powell

I would have to say the first song I heard him sing was Mob Rules. I was 12 years old in 1981 and my brother gave me the cassette tape Black Sabbath Mob Rules. I wore that tape out! Then in 83 it was Rainbow In The Dark. Around that time I also discovered Rainbow. Hands down Dio is my favorite singer and Rainbow, Sabbath and Dio are my favorite bands. _________________ Psalms 91 |

It was probably Man on the Silver Mountain, but the first one I heard that I actually knew who he was and absolutely loved was Heaven and Hell, actually the whole album. _________________ Life Member of the NRA |

Stargazzer
I heart it for the first time in a train many years ago... Than for the next 6 hours it was only Stargazzer again and again... Until today... This is my favorite Rainbow's song with Ronnie! _________________ Yes, I am giant, I'm a monster
