So who do you guys think is the greatest of the 2 vocalists? Matt Barlow of Iced Earth or RJD.
Both are kick ass but i like Barlow a little more |

| The only one close enough to beating DIO would be Khan from Kamelot but maybe not for another 20 odd years or so. |

I'm going to second the opinion that there is really no contest here. I'd try to use logical arguments to prove my point, but I am admittedly far too biased for that to work. So allow me to share my personal opinion of Ronnie's vocals: The best metaphor I've come up with is that his voice is like a sword. And I mean one of those really extravagant engraved ones with jeweled handles and super-sharp blades. Beautiful and yet lethal. There's no doubt there's an edge to Ronnie's voice, and yet it is still somehow elegant and refined.
If I were to continue this metaphor, Matt Barlow's vocals would be a butter knife.
And I agree with you, HM, Khan of Kamelot would be more of a fair comparison, though he still doesn't really hold a candle to Ronnie in my opinion. Like I said, though, I'm extremely biased. _________________ "You'll never make me be like you. I'm Master of the Moon!" |

Hard choice. Barlow is the best singer Iced Earth has had and his sense of melody and his range probably do rival Dio's to some degree but for power, pure power. Dio wins, gold medal. Sometimes you just need power as well as range and a good voice.
Its that extra layer of incredibility.
Singers close to Dio in degrees of this would possibly be Russel Allen from Symphony X or even...
Even the Metal God himself could stand eye to eye with Dio and live to tell the tale. Rob Halford, even now has power and range. |

Well it's an uphill climb to argue against RJD on the Dio forums, but with Matt Barlow, just no chance.
If Barlow was running the Gladiator gauntlet of metal singers, I say he'd have to go through Ripper first anyway.
not to say I don't like him though... _________________ Rest in peace Ronnie James Dio |

Bonkers indeed.
Um, who was that other guy besides Dio?
There are only two that defined Black Sabbath, and what's his name wasn't one.
Who did you say?
I just listened. It's like comparing a baritone to an alto.
The other guy is a good singer but besides the fact they both sing in metal songs, I hardly find them comparable.
Michael Jackson or Dio??? C'mon. lol |

Well I like Iced Earth and I like them with Matt Barlow , I hated Ripper Owens...
But to me those polls " who is better: A or B" are pretty senseless. Because both have their own style, you really can not compare one musician with the other I think. _________________ This is your life

I am sorry but that was a very silly question. Everybody know RJD is the Best. So why ask a very silly question like that?? No disrespect intended.
