I'm always more than willing to make a road trip for Dio (or H&H), but for any other band, my opinion is usually that it just isn't worth the time and money. Though I would enjoy Kamelot. So maybe Dio can get Kamelot to open for them on a US tour.

My thoughts become more fantastical by the day. Laughing

Hey Guys

RUdy Sarzo over on Facebook is asking if fans would like to see a US tour next year.......get over there and add your comments as well as adding then on here - if we all work together we may be able to get the boys to do something for you all next year!!

I have added a comment telling Rudy to get over here and look at the comments already made so I hope he does - the more demand the more likely so get everyone to get joined up and get their pleas in!!

Good luck to you all!

Yes, yes, yes!!! This is awesome news! Thanks for sharing, olivious. This is why I started this thread--in hopes of uniting the fans in the US in a call for a US tour!

It would be a dream come true for all of us newer fans, and it would be a return of the magic for the fans who have been there from the beginning.

America is forgetting how to do music right. I hope the guys will come and remind us all how live music is really supposed to be. Loyal Dio fans (new and old) are patiently waiting for a US tour...and we will be here to support them with proper enthusiasm when the time comes! Very Happy

The real problem is that in America we have been taught to follow. Dio was a huge band in the 80's up into the early 90s. but as the record companies changed the face of music they also made people feel that if you didnt move along with them you were dated and irrekevant. So as music changed people drifted away from bands like Dio and became fans of the new genre being sold.

This is so true!
Personally my love for metal started to die when bands like Warrant, Skid Row Winger...etc started to dominate the music scene. Unfortunately all the glam and bubblegum started to leave a bad taste in my mouth. MY LOSS was that- the legit bands like Dio, Maiden, Priest were also shelved.

As MTV fed us pimp aspirations, I took a big bite. I rarely had connection to any rock from the late 90's. I regulated myself to STP,NIN and the occasional nostalgia of Holy Diver/Sacred Heart.

I truly believe American music is subliminal! Big Sister quote "Who controls your mind?"........ Even worse I bought into the bullshit,..hey it was.. "the cool thing to do."

But I will never forget the complete UNSATISFATION of the "live" hip hop/rap show!!! Gimme Udo Dirkschneider's short ass over Puff Daddy and his hoes, any day.

What people forget is that when Grunge came around, at first it was Metal reborn with bands like Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. But it didnt take long for the powers that be to push bands like Nervana, and countless other hippy wannabes. The pussed out and became the most unentertaining music ever. I guess thats why bands like AIC are still loved by so many, while the screaming trees and bands like them are just forgotten.

It's a shame that so much of the American populace has decided to praise mediocrity. I have seen some pretty popular metal groups in concert--and not only was I unimpressed; I was disgusted. I won't say these musicians have no talent--they obviously have some talent--but they enjoy popularity at the price of their dignity and pride. Musically, they are only average, at best. But they enjoy popularity because of some image they've been given (and it's one of which I personally do not approve). Profanity, innuendos, blatantly inappropriate remarks between songs--these things add nothing to the music. They detract from it. And yet there is always an audience ready to applaud it all.

I'm proud to be a Dio fan. Like I've said, they do music right. I certainly hope to see a US tour sometime in the future.

It has been too many year since Dio has toured the U.S. I would love to see Dio tour this country. In my opinion radio has really sold out the music industry way to concerned with ratings and money. I never heard one song from Heaven and Hell album The Devil You Know on the radio in Philadelphia. I guess it wasn't the kind of music they wanted to put on the air waves. I have to say I cannot blame Dio for going to Europe after all he is still popular in Europe. Europeans are more loyal to bands they don't seem to be into passing fads as much as Americans. I would love to see a Dio tour in America!

The commercial success of Dio has certainly waned in America. Sad, but true. Their music is just too good for mainstream popularity. (I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that some people just can't handle the awesomeness Cool ) I was completely shocked the first time (and the only time) I heard a Dio song on the radio (it was The Last in Line, on a station on satellite radio).

The most heartbreaking aspect of the whole situation is that true Dio fans are loyal, no matter where we are. We can't help it our American society has chosen to celebrate other genres more. We love the music, we love the energy, we love the band...and we are truly happy for the European fans who get to see this winter tour...but we definitely want to see another US tour!

We're a rare breed to be able to handle awesomeness like we do! Wink

I go round and round with a coworker about what is good music. To him, Top 40. To me, Top 40 is an insult to one's intelligence. I like to listen to something that makes me use my brain for something besides keeping my skull from collapsing in on itself. Laughing He just says "but I'm a DJ!" Being a DJ does pay the bills, but it doesn't excuse you from being musically closed minded.

Well now, looks like Sarah just went on a bit of a rant! Laughing

As far as a US tour....I'll make this plea: Ronnie, if you come to the Hoosier State (can't blame you if you don't, it is a drag, but would be less of a drag if you were here! Wink ) I'll bake you cookies. Nobody can resist my baked goods. Twisted Evil

Well this is weird, but I think you and I are the same person, Stargazer. I agree with you 100%!

And no one can resist my baked goods, either. So I'll make the same promise you did. If Dio comes to Lubbock, I'll bake cookies for the band. Now how I'll get the cookies to the guys, I have no idea...but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Very Happy

Of course, our loyalty is reason enough for a US tour...but perhaps the promise of scrumptious baked goods will be an added incentive for Dio to come back to the States! Laughing

Stargazergeisha I thought you were in Virginia, but you said Hoosier state, and thats Indiana. Did you move or am I mistaken about the VA residence.

Fiddlequeen, Here in Cleveland Holy Diver is regularly played as well as Man on the Silver Mountain on mainstream Radio. I also have serius satelite radio, and you can often hear many other Dio songs on the Boneyard Channel 19. Its well worth the monthly fee to be able to listen to the music that I love as opposed to what I am told to love Laughing

Nope, I didn't move. I've never lived in VA. Smile Maybe you read about my house hunting adventures?

Fiddlequeen, lets fire up the ovens! I'm sure we could bribe our way backstage with goodies!

I'm in! Laughing But there's still the issue of deciding whether there is to be a US tour at all...

I'm in Virginia Smile and I want RJD in Virginia!

When I talked to him in TX last year I mentioned a club in Springfield (Jaxx) that he played years back and he said he loved Jaxx so I'm really hoping theres a U.S. tour and it includes Va! Jaxx holds about 600, so if he's drawing more he could go for "The National" in Richmond, I think they'd love to have him as well! Just saw Cooper there and he filled the house , it holds about 1500.

Please RJD come to Va!
