I have seen folks post this in others topics etc.
Talking about how much Ronnie James Dio has influenced there life.
For me Dio's music has always lifted me when I have felt sad.
Then only time I was able to escape the pain of grieving was by listening to his music. |

I have said this before, but Ronnie's voice was the voice that spoke to me as a kid, and made me want to sing. I spent hours in my room listening to every lyric, every enunciation. I would not have become the singer I am, or had the adventures with bands and touring that I have had, without those times in my room with Ronnie teaching me to sing. I guess to put it in today's terms No Ronnie No Nevermet. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Ronnie's music can pretty efficiently bring me out of a funk.
It's also great when I'm in a good mood, which is most of the time.
Also, his lyrics kind of validate the way I think....
At work I play "Love Is All" to perk up the mood. Everybody really digs it....it's now our theme song! |

I have been a fan of Ronnie James Dio since the late 70's. With RJD's great writing ability and great voice how can anyone not be a fan. When life has its ups and downs and is not going the way you planned all I have to do is play RJD's music and all is right with the world. Thank you RJD for giving us great music! I can't wait for Heaven and Hell tour! _________________ If you wish hard enough you might be surprised what awaits you at the end of the rainbow! |

It has been a tough year. Without the music of Ronnie James Dio, I'd have given up the fight, crawled into a hole and stayed there.
Between losing my job and my sister being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (which our father died of several years back), it was difficult to get up in the morning, nevermind fight back. And the bleakness of this year followed on the heels of many years of unhappy circumstance.
But just like a line from Chopra, the universe provided, and the music of Dio came into my life through a chain of bizarre circumstances. There had been no music in my life for many years and it took me by surprise to be suddenly listening to the old songs again.
Simply put, Dio brought the dead back to life: me. It was like waking up after sleepwalking on a ledge. The music awakened me and revived my spirit. Don't ask me how music can have such a powerful effect on a person. I certainly don't know the answer, only that I'd been weak and fearful and it made me feel strong and able to face anything.
I'm not much of a concert-goer, am anxious in crowds and have rarely ventured out in public in recent years, yet there I was last month watching Dio perform with Heaven and Hell. It was magical, no more than that, it was empowering. He was amazing and his voice was phenomenal. The only other experience I've had that powerful and invigorating was hiking to the top of Mount Washington by myself one bright, autumn day.
I'm feeling powerful again. In charge of myself for the first time in years.
The music has given me back my fighting spirit. Things have not changed, but I have.

For me, finding the music of Dio was simply an inspiration.
It happened on one fortuitous evening in June 2007, when my friend's bootleg copy of The Da Vinci Code did not have working subtitles. So, we had to choose a different film for our group movie night, and the second choice was Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. Ronnie's cameo appearance made me laugh, but I had no idea then of what I had been missing.
I was not going through anything particularly difficult at the time, but I was a college student, enjoying my chosen major but still feeling rather lost and helpless and alone, especially when thoughts of post-graduation would creep into my mind. I was an avid realist, to the point that most people would consider me a pessimist. I hadn't really discovered a passion yet.
When I decided I really enjoyed The Pick of Destiny, I started watching it more and more (I've watched it now at least 120 times), and naturally, I had to find out more about this guy Ronnie James Dio. It didn't take long for me to be hooked.
Dio touched my life because the lyrics speak to me. Many of them were way too close to the truth for the way my life had been going..."You don't believe in someday and the truth is what you prove", "She was never in the circle, or the round would be a square, and the more she seemed to want it, all the less they seemed to care"...and so many more.
Anyway, Ronnie changed my perception of the world and life, and he has helped me to realize how important it is to dream and to hope for better things. And he's given me confidence like I've never had before ("Stand up and shout!"). You should see me at an H&H concert (I've not yet had the pleasure to see Dio). I'm free and alive and happy--not the usual reserved, quiet, insecure, serious, analytical, rational, logical human being I typically am, afraid that everyone is looking at me with some negative judgment.
I've become just a slightly different person--a better person--thanks to Ronnie James Dio. My heart is free now, and I've rediscovered the passion I used to have for music, before schoolwork tried to take it away. Now my passion is for guitar, and I feel I'm on the road to becoming a true musician. Maybe it won't be my sole profession, but at least it will keep my heart happy and my soul free. Sincerest thanks to Ronnie James Dio! _________________ "You'll never make me be like you. I'm Master of the Moon!" |
