I must say I'm SO glad people have taken such a supportive attitude towards Ronnie here.
I've been in several big forum wars about Iron Maiden recently. They did significant UK legs to their X Factour (95-96), Virtual XI World Tour (9 , Brave New World Tour (00-01), Gimme Ed...'Til I'm Dead Tour (03), Dance of Death World Tour (03-04), Eddie Rips Up The World Tour (05), A Matter of Life & Death World Tour (06-07). They then played the biggest rock festival in the UK in 2007 on their A Matter of the Beast Summer Tour.
Yet for some reason, fans have really reared their ugly side about the Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008-2009. The fact Iron Maiden only did one gig (a stadium show which did not sell out and had popular support acts, even if Avenged Sevenfold didn't fit the bill...Within Temptation sure went down well and Lauren Harris has become part of the Maiden experience whether you like it or not). "They've ignored the UK" "Don't they remember where they come from?" type comments are everywhere. Lots of grumbling about how lucky Brazil is with regards to Iron Maiden has emerged, and the USA....more of their gigs in the USA get cancelled than anywhere else and it was their first visit to South America since 2004 but the bandwaggon's rolling now so people don't get it.
Glad to see guys here have a better attitude. |
