Can't wait for the gig in The Academy, Glasgow.

I have been a fan of Queensryche for about 15 years and am well excited about finally getting to see them live after seeing many bootlegs over the years. I hope they mix up the set list and have a good career representation of songs -instead of just playing O:M I and II.

As for Lizzy.....well I have seen them in The Academy in 06 and they were great. What impressed me was the fact that the first 5 rows were filled with young people, all singing along from the first song. The music lives on.

I will get to see them again in Killarney (Ireland) as my brother has bought me a ticket for my Xmas present. Two great live shows in 3 weeks from Lizzy. To quote Kate Bush "December will be magic again..."

Let me know how it went....not sure about seeing Thin Lizzy without Phil Confused

That is funny how it seems like yesterday I was hoping that more of Thin Lizzy's catalog would be available on CD, most of their stuff was still on vinyl in the late 1980s.

Now we are to wait for their catalog to be available on vinyl again. And we are 20 years in the future from the late 80s.

How things change.

New THIN LIZZY Frontman Says PHIL LYNOTT 'Would Approve' Of Band's Current Lineup

Eric Mackinnon of RockAAA.com recently conducted an interview with new THIN LIZZY frontman Ricky Warwick (of THE ALMIGHTY fame). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

On joining forces with DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell and ex-WHITESNAKE bassist Marco Mendoza, along with Phil Lynott-era THIN LIZZY members Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton, to tour under the THIN LIZZY banner:

Warwick: "People keep saying to me, 'Those are really big shoes to fill' — but I'm not filling [Phil Lynott's] shoes. There will only ever be one Phil Lynott and that's it. We can't replace him. What we can do is go out there and play his songs with a passion, a spirit and an energy and try to make them as vibrant as we can. And that's what we are doing."

On respecting Lynott's lyrics and delivery style, while also trying to inject a little of his own character:

Warwick: "You have to put the Phil-isms into the songs. People need to hear them with the phrasing they know and love. I know when I go and see a band and they screw around with the lyrics or the arrangement too much it ruins it for me. So I'm trying to do 50 percent of that and then put 50 percent of my own personality into it — I have to try and get the balance somewhere along the line."

On the new THIN LIZZY lineup's first show, which took place on January 6 in Aberdeen, United Kingdom:

Warwick: "It couldn't have gone any better. I was shitting myself before the show, but in a good way: I just wanted to get up there and do my best. The crowd were into it and it was everything I hoped it would be.

"There were moments where I was a fan looking around thinking, 'There's Scott Gorham! There's Vivian Campbell! There's Brian Downey!' Then I found myself looking up at the THIN LIZZY sign and thinking, 'Wow. Oh my God — I'm in THIN LIZZY!' It's still freaking me out. I think it always will."

On whether he ever seriously considered refusing Gorham's offer to join the band:

Warwick: "As soon as I picked myself up off the floor, I had to do it. It was huge to be asked. It's life-changing; I was very happy already and I had a very blessed life with the solo stuff. I was doing fine, playing away, then this came out of the blue.

"I was never not going to do it. But I needed to talk to Scott, find out what he was trying to do and what he wanted me to do.

"Once I'd spoken to him, and thought about Phil's lyrics and the kind of guy he was, I knew he'd be up there digging it because we're all doing it for the right reasons. I thought about the lyrics for 'You Can Do Anything', my favorite LIZZY song, which are very relevant to what I was thinking before I joined.

"That's why Phil would approve — he'd say, 'Go for it — keep bringing my songs to the people."

Confused If Phil was alive today....I don't think he would be playing with Vivian Campbell, look back over the band's history and the legends that have played in Thin Lizzy, if Phil Lynott was alive today....Slash would be playing in the band Exclamation
Lady Vivian will never fill the shoes of Eric Bell, Gary Moore, Brian Robertson, Snowy White or John Sykes .....NEVER!

UK members.....Thin Lizzy on TV tonight BBC 4
Thin Lizzy: Bad Reputation 9pm
Affectionate but honest portrait of Thin Lizzy, arguably the best hard rock band to come out of Ireland.
Starting with the remix of the classic album Jailbreak by Scott Gorham and Brian Downie, the film takes us through the rollercoaster ride that is the story of Thin Lizzy. From early footage of singer Phil Lynott in Ireland in his pre-Lizzy bands the Black Eagles and Orphanage, it follows his progress as he, guitarist Eric Bell and drummer Brian Downie form the basic three-piece that was to become Thin Lizzy - a name taken from the Beano.
Using original interviews with Bell, Downie, the man who signed them and their first manager, it traces the early years leading to the recruitment of guitarists Brian 'Robbo' Robertson and Scott Gorham - the classic line-up. The film uses a number of stills, some seen on TV for the first time, archive from contemporary TV shows and a range of tracks both well known and not so famous.
There are hilarious self-deprecating anecdotes, from the stories behind the making of the Boys are Back in Town to the hiring of Midge Ure. We hear about the 'revolving door' as guitarist after guitarist was fired and hired, and the recording of Bad Reputation and Live and Dangerous - where producer Tony Visconti pulls no punches in talking about how he recorded the latter - putting the controversy to bed for the final time. Except that Downie and Robertson still disagree with him.
Finally we hear how drugs and alcohol impacted on the band and how the music suffered, how one member later substituted golf for heroin, and how addiction and the related lifestyle led to the death of Phil Lynott.
Contributors include Brian Downie, Scott Gorham, Eric Bell, Brian Robertson, Midge Ure, Bob Geldof, Tony Visconti, Joe Elliot (Def Leppard) and many others.

Also on tonight right after Thin Lizzy, a repeat of Iron Maiden: Flight 666
Film documenting the first leg of Iron Maiden's Somewhere Back in Time world tour.

neon knight pete Smile

The Thin Lizzy programme was really good, always great to hear Scott Gorham talking about Phil Lynott.
Once again the debate about the overdubs on Live and Dangerous , I really believe if you have not see Thin Lizzy live you don't have a right to an opinion, Exclamation I have seen them live and to be honest, yes there is tweaking but the record does give you the heart and soul of what Thin Lizzy are like live, its a great live recording, the energy is something you can't create in the studio, thats why I believe the band members side of the story more than Tony Visconti.
It will always make the top 5 greatest live recordings of all time and thats the important thing, its what the fans think.

neon knight pete Smile if you don't have Wild Horse's 2 cds in your collection try and get them, Bain and Robertson are a classic act together.

For folks in UK, the programme has 6 more days left http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00xln7l
