I had 2 whitesnake tracks on my ipod which i listened to one after the other. Lay down your Love from the new album and Your Gonna Break my Heart Again which was from the 1987 sessions (but didnt make it on the original LP but did on the subsequent CD.)

Interesting hearing very different styles - the what i would call more "metal" style of the Sykes era against the more blues rock orientated new album.

I must admit that i prefer the Sykes 1987 song - its cleaner, more melodic, the lyrics are clever but simple and dare i say it, more original!! What i mean is, that when i was listening to "Lay Down.." i kept thinking to myself, that reminds me of other Whitesnake songs - it was also very bluesy and busy i.e. loads of overloads - i just felt that the 87 song was a better song in every way.

I dont say that with any malice - i saw Whitesnake at the SECC last year and liked "Lay Down" as soon as they played it but compared to 1987 material, it isnt as good.

Any comments?

Can't really comment becoz I refuse to buy GOOD TO BE BAD Confused
But from what I have seen and heard of Doug Aldrich.
He's not nearly as good as Sykes.
Sykes is a proper Metal guitarist...for me. Aldrich is too light weight.

But I am will listening to the Good to be Bad on youtube right now and hopeful I will be able to add more to the debate...I promise Wink
Already hating it Laughing Laughing
More soon Very Happy
