Stargazer you are talking pish!
I have spoken to many young fans of Heaven and Hell in the pub,at work and on the internet....give them some credit just becoz these younger fans are maybe into bands like Green Day,my chemical romance,Lamb of God,Slipknot, Disturbed etc etc does not mean they don't know who Heaven and Hell are.
There is not many young folks out there that don't have access to the internet or access to mags like Kerrang or Metal Hammer.
The only folks who don't know who Heaven and Hell are people who have never been to a Heavy Metal gig.
I could ask my neighbour who is 45 years old if he knows about Heaven and Hell and he will think it will have something to do with Gordan Ramsay or I could ask his 14 year old son who I have seen with a copy of Kerrang and he will tell me who they are.
Also look at the young folks who have access to SKY and their music channels and digital radio....I have seen news about Heaven and Hell on Sky News,Scuzz,Rockworld TV and Kerrang TV.
Maybe its in your neighbourhood, who don't know whats happening out there.

I'm going to reiterate my previous point: do you really want as much as 1/3 of the set taken up with '70s material? That is what would have happened if they called it Black Sabbath. They cannot call it Sabbath and not play certain songs. I love the '70s material, but in this context I would MUCH rather they played they stuff they recorded together. I'd feel the same way if Tony Martin came back (maybe they could call that band Headless Cross).

I said Heaven and Hell is for Dio's fans because Black Sabbath is a band with very different stages and fans, BS sounds like 4 or 5 different bands and only some fans like all BS stages.
BS is not a band like Deep Purple who always shows the same style and the same kind of voice. Dio and Maritin are not like Ripper Owen who was accepted in Judas Priest because he could perform Rob Halford's songs.
I love Dio, Ozzy and Martin's stages. I hate Live Evil and Dehumanizer tour because, IMO, Dio wastes his magic singing Ozzy's songs, and Ozzy's songs are wasted without his voice.
...And I would love that "Headless cross" band.

Now, just hold on there a cotton-picking minute, tiger!!!!!

Deep Purple always show the same style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That has got to have come from someone who has never listened to Deeep Purple!!!!

The Mk2 sound was somewhat unique, although if you really listen to albums like Fireball and even In Rock, there is a diversity of styles. The DP sound changed when coverdale and Hughes joined in '73, becoming more bluesy in feel, which is ironically why Blackmore left!! The sound changed again when Tommy Bolin was guitarist.

When Mk2 reformed in '84, they sounded nothing like they did in the late '60s early 70s. JLT's stint with the band gave them yet another change in style, and when Blackmore finally f****d off for good and Steve Morse joined, the sound has matured even more.

Unfortunately, when Jon Lord retired and Don Airey took over the keyboard role, that aspect didn't change. Airey sounds just like Jon Lord did.

Sorry man, don't misunderstand me. The "same style" that I'm talking about is "pure" hard rock, no other band keeps that, most of hard rock bands add some metal of even pop lossing their original style, but not DP (well, maybe Abandon sounds a little metal) Embarassed so you always recognise DP. If you listen Burn and Bananas, are quite different, sure, but both sound DP, not like other band. If you listen Mob rules and Sabotage seem to be different bands. Besides all MK's, have similar voices-tones (not like Ozzy and Dio), Guilan sings the songs from Evans, Coverdale or Turner and sounds very good, but Dio is not nice performing Paranoid and I supose Ozzy would spoil H&H. I have never meet a DP fan who likes one Mk and don't like other and I know people who like Ozzy's BS and don'l like Dio's or like Dio's but not Ozzy's. Martin and Dio could be closer but it would be more complicated if I add Burn again and Seventh star!

I like the "new band" Heaven and hell. Dio is part of the story of Black Sabbath but the band is related with Ozzy and don't forget Tony Martin, even Guillan and Hughes are part of that story. Heaven and Hell means Black Sabbath with Dio, FOR DIO'S FANS!!!

That is my whole point. Dio fans will recognise the name Heaven and Hell, but what about the new fans the band are trying to attract.?..I still make the point that i know many people who would have bought tickets if they realized who Heaven and hell were, when they found out they were dio/sabbath they were dissopointed to have missed out......this means lost ticket sales..get my point..?

Have some respect for the horse. Could we bury it now? It has been stinking up the place.

Since Black Sabbath has been touring with Ozzfest for the past upteen billion years MOST young people I have seen who are not only Ozzy fans only see Sabbath as with Ozzy. How many of them know of any other incarnation? IF they called it that those SAME exact fans would be calling for 70s era music to be played which is not the focus they wanted it to be. OR at least the same very songs they played OVER and OVER again for Ozzfest, you know the ones they said they wanted a break from?

You are making a lot more of this than needs be.

Yet again, young Devin has has spoken volumes within a few words.

My sentiments as well, Devin, but if stargazer wants to keep sticking his head above the parapet, who am I to resist taking a shot............. Laughing

Well, a quick change in this discussion but not an off topic remark. I just want to share a thought on the upcoming album which supposedly is due to be released in March 09.

And the thought is this: only a few days ago I heard the GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN Christmas song rearranged and performed by the Dio / Iommi dynamic duo.

And what can I say...: Dio's vocal part is in my opinion his best studio performance since the Magica album. He sounds fresh, powerful, and in total control. Very Happy

Shadow Of The Wind, The Devil Cried and The Third One Which Sadly Slipped My Mind As I Am Posting This were good vocal wise, but I could get the impression, that Ronnie was perhaps tired a bit, and forced himself too much at times.

God Rest Ye... is hopefully sheer evidence that Ronnie 'The Vocal Master' Dio is On Top Of His Game Even More Than He Recently Has Been.

PS: This song should be put on the 2009 album. It's so good!
PS#2: The third one is Ear In The Wall, obviously...
