Forgive me for being dense, but something I've seen quite a bit of from Dio fans is bugging me and maybe someone here can make me understand.
I see lots of complaints about the magnificent Magica and Master of the Moon albums because the songs are relatively down-tempo. I'm wondering why people think this is a problem. Most of you dig the albums Dio did with Sabbath... and Sabbath songs are rarely fast. Why is it okay for Sabbath to record slow numbers but not Dio? Please explain. |

Nothing wrong with slow tempo...being a fan of bands like My Dying Bride and Draconian...I love the slow tempo.
''Master of the Moon'' has many characteristics of doom metal,I like when DIO's music is darker and heavier, thats why I don't play KTD much Its just not heavy enough for me,would be interesting to have a new version of this cd with Craig Goldy playing the riffs and solos |

Dio has done good music, whether fast or slow, doesn't matter. Magica was an amazing idea of an album, and it had "Lord Of The Last Day" and "Fever Dreams"... the great songs from the album.
Master Of The Moon, well I was disappointed. It was a quality-consistant album (okay album), no really bad but no really good songs either. Killing The Dragon was musically a very good album, Magica was an interesting concept album, Master Of The Moon an ok album, that's it.

There is nothing wrong with slow songs for me. It doesn't matter of which tempo is a song, the most important for me is that a song should be exciting, catchy or sth like that.
I like the type of slow songs that Dio has, even slow songs performed by him can have some vigour.
Some slow songs from Master Of The Moon are really great. |

| Personnaly I like the fast ones.We Rock,Stand Up And Shout,Why Are They Watching Me,Killing The Dragon.Right now,I think that Ronnie prefer to sing slow songs because it's easier for his voice. |

Ronnie has the most beautiful voice that I have ever heard sing a slow song ...coming from a Mans voice that is. Spellbinding would be an accurate descriptive!
I some times wish that he would write a whole album like this, Accoustical guitars Piano/Sax accompaniment added to the mix would be outstanding no doubt! I love songs like "This is your life" ...& the Intro to "As Long as it's Not About love" is one of his top performances IMO. |

I think only a genius can make slow tempo music with such power. it's part of his own- unique style.
I agree Holymagica, I would love to listen KTD with Goldie!!!! |

| I like all of Dio's stuff, but I really prefer the style of the songs on Holy Diver and Last in Line over the stuff on his later cd's. The melodies were more catchier on the early stuff. |

As I've said in another topic, the tempo has no bearing for me - all that is important for me is that the song is good. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |
