In your opinion, Who would you say are the most underated METAL bands of the 80's, 90's, and 00's?
One, off the top of my head, to start this thread, would be....
Testament: In my opinion these guys are some of the best writers/musicians to emerge from the "thrash" scene, Alex Skolnick is one of the absolute greatest guitarists/Musicians in the world. Although widely known in the metal community, they have not gained the public recognition like Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth, etc, etc,......In my opinion Testament deserve it just as much as any of those examples, if not MORE.

| I'm seeing them coming up in Hollywood, I can't wait either. The Upcoming album is making alot of POSITIVE noise within the music industry, I'm so anxious to get it. I've seen them twice and was just blown away both times, Although both times were in the late 80's. |

Yeah, Testament deserves a lot more credit than what they got. Alex Skolnick is an AMAZING guitar player, and can easily out-do other thrash metal guitar players. As for other under-rated bands, shoot theres so many I may not be able to name them all. But I'll give it a shot anyway.
Laaz Rockit
Heathen
Possessed
Artillery
Vio-Lence
Armored Saint
Metal Church
Flotsam and Jetsam
Death Angel
Dark Angel
Obsolette (Yes it is my friend's band but they're just so damn good, they just need some attention.)
That's about it for now, cause I'm tired so, I'll probably post some more later, and maybe some quick reviews. |

Europeans probably wouldnt consider this band as underated, but in America the biggest underated band is Manowar
They just never got the attention that they deserved here. I saw them at Harpo's on the Fighting the World tour, and have been a fan ever since. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Not knocking your friends band by leaving them out, just never heard them and therefore have no opinion
A couple more I think are very underated....

For one, the band Dio is under rated, but that topic has been discussed to death.
I vote for Badlands _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

I was just listening to Hall of The Mountain King by Savatage and thought to myself, "another one for the list of most underated bands".
These guys are great, especialy the "mountain king" and "gutter ballet" C.D's
Criss oliva is yet another great musician that was taken from us way before his time.......I found this quote from his father in an interview after his death, I think it says it all about his love for his band and his music..............
When asked for a comment about Criss, his father said "He lived for that guitar" referring to his love of the guitar. "I would go over to his home for a visit and no matter what he was doing, on the phone, eating dinner, Criss would always have a guitar in his hands

I'd put my 3 cents in for Pagan's Mind, Nightwish, Angel Dust, and Human Fortress.
And no i'm not from europ but the west coast of the US. Problem is most metal originating from America is chock full of cookie monster vocals. Are there some Great American Metal Bands new to the stage possibly, but when the kids these days are mesmerized by acts like insane clown possy or system of a down i have to wonder about the new metal scene. _________________ May I put that on your Sears Card? |

I have to agree! They are liking some very dry tasteless stuff now-days. _________________ GUITARGOD |

Demolition Hammer
Morbid Saint
Candlemass
