The self-titled album... is the 1st album Dio released in Elf and the oldest I have. It had lot blues-based boogie-woogie rock going on, piano etc. It wasn't real heavy metal yet, as Black Sabbath probably created the whole genre, but they had something going on together, which was a promising sign of the future, already.

1. Hoochie Koochie Lady ****
2. First Avenue ***
3. Never More **
4. I'm Coming Back To You ***
5. Everything Will Be Alright ***
6. Dixie Lee Junction ***
7. Love Me Like A Woman ***½
8. Gambler, Gambler **

Cool

Never More was only got 1 and a half stars??? Am I reading this correctly? Got to respectfully disagree with you my friend...IMO, NM is by far the best song on this album and I don't understand why it isn't being played on classic rock stations all over the US. It's a masterpiece...I mean, compare it to Teenage Wasteland which has been played to death or any of the other "classic rock" that is played till most people don't ever want to hear it again, and it just blows most, if not all away...now that I'm thinking about it...I'm pissed...I'm going to request NM till someone f'ing plays it....where's the phone Evil or Very Mad

Well go & rate the songs yourself... this was not only created for my own review.

Cool

If this was not only created for your review, why can't I express my opinion? How is one supposed to respond to this topic?

I am quite sarcastic, so there was sarcasm in my post, but I am suprised that NM isn't a classic rock hit....

Please, explain the rules here because I obviously fucked up Shocked

Because of low success of capturing other fan's reviewing interests, I will increase the time between the review topics to four weeks.

Okay, you obviously didn't read my post, or just decided to ignore me...am I missing something here? I read the other thread saying that there would be weekly reviews. You were offended by my response to your review. Now you are complaining about a low interest in reviewing...you are making no sense. Either that or I just don't get it.

You don't want me to just come on here and rate the album myself, you don't want me to give my opinion on your rating, and you've given a specific time between reviews...you need to explain this topic or it will crash and burn when it could have been cool Confused

Mysterioman, you have to accept the fact that there are some people out there who will disagree with you.

It seems to me you were offended by Nurse Ratched's opionion because it differed from yours.

I know I don't always respond to a topic just to say "I agree" or whatever. I'm not a waster of words, but you might think I'm wasting words now. If that's your opinion, you are certainly entitled to it, and I won't be offended. Wink

Not to pick sides, but I also feel that a 1 1/2 star rating on Never More is a little low....

I will add the two other Elf album reviews soon to the R&R Music community.

EVERYONE can express their own opinion COMPLETELY freely, if they want to. So can I. Did I write that you don't have the right to express your opinion? Did I? Tell me...

Cool

Okay, so I guess this just meant that I am supposed to just rate them, no feedback allowed...Seems pretty boring if you ask me.

You seem pissed off at the world MM...or you and I are like oil and water.

Mysterioman if your going to start a rating and reviewing topic
it would be nice and less confusing to other posters if you would
lay down some rules of the topic.

As always we will all have our different opinion of things.

I will leave this open but please clean it up and lay down some rules of the topic so there is no confusion.

I myself was confused as to the idea of this topic.

It's been quite a long time when I've posted here last time and all I can say that... I'm still quite confused about the reaction towards my post. Shocked

As I mentioned earlier, this was supposed to turn into a topic where board members post their own ratings and discuss about the songs, agree or disagree with other people's opinions.

But so far I've only received negative replies about my post, some really strange accusations which have appeared from nothing.

I never wrote anywhere that no-one would be allowed to express own personal opinions. Exactly the opposite. The fun comes exactly from people disagreeing/agreeing, because that can at best open up new songs or give new viewpoints, which can make people like songs that they previously didn't like. And that is, at least to me, really important.

All wrong. Time limit is also removed now, as I noticed that topics stay alive really long in here.

This was a really funny comment too as it was NR who was going against my opinions, while I myself said nothing about her own likes.

You're right, after a refreshing listen I will give it a half more. Laughing

Wrong, as explained earlier.

Once again something that tries to tell me it was me who wasn't allowing other opinions here. Which was wrong, as explained earlier.

After all, I will create the reviews for the other two albums immediately now, and hope that people will get the idea now. I don't want to write another mile of text.

The new topics will look like this (could be nice if a moderator edited the title of this topic too):

Rate & Review - Elf

Cool

I think what happened here is that I went off on a rant about Nevermore, being silly and sarcastic which is difficult to pick up on in a post, and started this whole mess.

I think Elf should be reviewed and given the praise it deserves...

All is cool Rolling Eyes

I know that conflicts sometimes happen when people have different opinions. There are no two people that could feel exactly the same about music... there are equally much opinions as there are listeners.

But I guess all is okay now, I've posted a couple new topics...

Thinking about one more Elf recording I have, titled as "Live And Studio", it's really strange that Wikipedia doesn't know anything about it, although there are many recordings that I don't have... amazon.com doesn't know anything about it either.

Do you know this recording I'm talking about...? It has two discs, six studio tracks and rest live from The Court, Courtland USA Jan 1972...? If you do, then Wikipedia seriously needs some fixing.

Cool

I've always thought "Happy" was the best Elf Song.
