Yes, it's the only known complete concert with Dio era Rainbow which has been filmed, where the film has been preserved.... |

This is absolutely great. It's quite special seeing Ronnie perform in this DVD. His voice sounds so good that it's incredible.
It's interesting to me how this is 'pre' devil horns w/his hands.
He looked and sounded great in this.
The sound is great on this. Visually, you have to take the era it was recorded into consideration, and it was not bad how they worked it out.
Again, I just love the visual of Ronnie's stage presence in this.
Richie from Rainbow absolutely wrote some incredible music.
If you're a Ronnie fan, this is super fun to watch. IMO I liked it better than the Holy Diver LIVE DVD performance, and that was superbly produced visually and audio wise.
I guess I was redundant here, the sound is great, the sound is great, the sound is great. lol |

I have watched 'Catch the Rainbow' from this concert like 10 times the past few days.
I think probably Rainbow and Black Sabbath are my favorite Dio eras.
There's a total difference between the way Ronnie sang with Rainbow and Black Sabbath, especially Sabbath's Dehumanizer and the Heaven and Hell album.
Ronnie could sing beautifully and growl like a monster. I cannot help but prefer the softer, more sentimental sounding voice. The harmonies in his earlier work stoke such deep feelings in me. The heavier stuff is amazing too, don't get me wrong.
I am just enchanted by the beautiful music. I love the aggressive heavy metal as well.
I view Rainbow as more 'classic rock' than metal. Ronnie became metal with his move to Sabbath.
Again, I just felt like saying how much I love it when Ronnie sings softly. There's a difference between it and his growling style(which is also amazing).
I'm just blown away when I see his performance in this old concert video. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

I find it a bit strange there is so few concert of Rainbow (Dio era) that has been filmed... after all they were a major band in the 70's, with tours in 75-76-77 and 78 , I mean you've would've thought some ot their shows must have been filmed.
Maybe not in its entirety and with the quality of the Rockpalast show, but ...
There is a fact that thre are some clips out there that i clearly professionally filmed, like the clips form the Houston show in 76, and if I am not mistaken there is also some profesionally filmed clips from Japan...
I hope some effort will be made to bring out to the fans whatever material that exists.. Even if the quality might not be top notch it should be released... |

It's a great DVD, apparently it's the only Rainbow dvd out now. Hopefully some of the other eras will get DVD's too. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

Craig said in his latest interview with Classic Rock Revisited that he and Ronnie saw Rainbow lives after setting up the equipment(tape recorder or something ?) in Ronnie's house.
Ronnie must have films...
I really want to see other live DVDs of Rainbow. _________________ ☆Tell me lies as long as it's not about love☆ |

Great show, one of my all time favorites--for rock in general. Though for Rainbow specifically, commercially released live materials was far and few between.
Thanked be the gods for boots!
