Four Guitars
1. My child, my pride and joy, Carol, my Gibson SG.
2. The Guitar I learned on, Karla, My Epiphone Les Paul
3. My Ovation, Diana.
4. My Classical Yamaha. (didn't name it)
I use Dean Markley Strings and D'Addrio Strings. (Might try Ernie Ball Strings, aint sure, I like Dean Markley, but.......ye know, Ernie Ball has the more trustworthy Six String Bass Strings which I want to use for the darker sounds)
Fender Amps, and Picks that keep turning up everywhere. |
Okay, change. I sold Karla and Diana to the local guitar store for credit. I bought A Dean Bass, a case, and a Cry Baby Wah pedal.
Still have eighty dollars on credit there. ROCK AND ROLL, MAN!!!!!!!!
I also bought an awesome Breedlove Acoustic. Yeah, That's Diane.
Haven't named the bass yet. |
Sold the bass and made a mistake by buying a Fender. And now I will never do tbhat again. It gave me I dunno, two months before the action failed, I fixed that, and the neck started to fuck up. Then the tuners. Finally I just took the guitar apart and cussed it out. _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

I'm getting very close to finishing my Buzzsaw les paul. I'll post pictures when its done. one more week, hopefully. I have to wait for the paint on the neck to set for five days before I add the clear coat. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Man you need to write Fender a letter outlining what took place with that guitar...write down every little issue it had and send it to them and they should take care of it. Put that pig back together and get it ready to send back to them.
My Fender is a 1972 guitar and i love it, not wild about the single coil pickups but the action is loose as a goose and slick and clean. Is yours a Mexican Strat or U.S. or what? _________________ GUITARGOD |

Korean Stratocaster.......Tye Dye design
Rosewood Fretboard.........(I think oak body???) I asked and the person selling didn't know. Normally at that store they do, so maybe it was just some cheap plywood.
Now, as for blabbering on about Fenders......I don't think I'd like one again.......I mean that whole incident kinda reinforced my already negative view of Fenders.......but also, the only real reason I bought the guitar (I test played it, several times) for it's whammy bar.....in fact, I had actually wanted to get my Les Paul Back, but they had already sold her .............. I found I don't really use the whammy bar......I do more over tremolo picking, finger picking, and bends.....and the effect of a mechanism is not much compared to those techniques. _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

Most plywood they use have layers of mohogany (spelling?) and sound good but the neck sounds like the biggest issue, i have an ESP 7 string that a good friend gave me and after about a year the neck twisted and it twisted against the tension of the strings!? Now i need to find another neck for it. If you write Fender about it i'll bet they will take care of you.
Sorry for your loss on the LesPaul, they are hard to beat! I use my Paul for most of my recording as well as the V. I too never cared much for Fenders but a goof friend of mine had an old 1972 hard tail Strat with an Alder body that he loaded with a floyd rose tremlo set up and the body was heavy unlike other Strats i had tried and i really liked that Strat and i ended up finding one in the local pawn shop and bought it. But most Strats i do not like the feel of. _________________ GUITARGOD |

Gibson only has the 2002v model. They discontinued it to keep producing standard SG's, which I think is their best seller. _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

Ya, maybe it was just for the Queens jubilee. I emailed Gibson to give me feedback on the Iommi Gibson. I'll post it here if they respond. |

Unfortunately, this model has not been in production since 2005. The list price for this model in 2005 was $5,905US MSRP. Thanks for the inquiry!
Best regards,

Man that's some nice equipment. I love all those Jacksons. Wish I could show ya my stuff...but I lost it all due to severe financal difficulties Hopefully I'll get a new guitar and amp in a few months though. It's a real bitch for me being left-handed tho.
But I do have a picture of a kinda rare guitar I used to have. Care to guess what it is?

Ok well I guess either no one here knows what kind of guitar this is...or they don't really care. But it has an interesting story behind it that some of you may like.
The guitar is a Sogovia believe it or not. Some of you may have heard of Andrés Torres Segovia, a renown classical guitarist, and as you would think most guitars bearing his name are classical acoustic guitars. While I haven't been able to find much information on the web about this particular model, I believe it was made in the 60's or early 70's.
The craftsmanship is not particularly great and I found it to be more of a novelty than a performance guitar. It has a bolt on neck and a tremolo bridge of poor design that was adept at putting the guitar out of tune. The pickups have a real low end sound to them even with the treble turned up. The polka dots were painted a cream pearl color with real pearl paint set into a glossy fire engine red.
But the reason I bought this guitar was a story a friend told me the day before I found this guitar in a pawnshop for $115. He said that Randy Rhoads had been wanting this particular model of guitar and had been looking for one for a long time and that for his birthday his mother wanted to buy him one. She also could not find one for him so instead she had a custom shop build the one Randy made famous.
Whether or not the story was entirely true I can't say for sure. But when I saw it for such a low price I figured "What the hell...can't go wrong for $115". My friend also said the guitar listed in a collector's magazine for $4500...not alot for a guitar these days..but at the time (1993) that was not too shabby.
Although I tried to get a good sound from it and made adjustments to the bridge it just never was able to perform as well as I had hoped so I eventually traded it for a set of Kustom cabs with 2 15" JBL speakers, some huge Altec Lansing horns, and a 4 track recording machine.
I see that some of you have the polka dot Vs in this thread...so I thought you might enjoy seeing the guitar they were based on and the story I was told. _________________

The story you were told about Randy is incorrect. Randy had the polka dot v built as a custom by Karl Sandoval. The dots and inlays were to mimic his stage costume. _________________ http://ladyrock.informe.com/ |

I am a huge cheap guitar fan.
I have two Fender Squier Korean basses - which I love and are NOTHING like the new ones.
I have three basses I built myself using WD/Warmoth/ESP and Fender components.
I have two Japanese Squier guitars - a strat and tele.
And two Alvarez Yairi acoustics and a Takamine Classical.
Just got a Carvin all tube combo on the used market which is great.
And have and swear by STUDIOMASTER powered mixing boards - nothing even comes close to the sound live or in studio.
Oh yes, I have a nice Epiphone standard les paul, and a Samick 335 (Korean - stay away from Indonesian guitars!) which is also great. _________________ Bass guitarists hold it all together. |
